Thread: Europa Barbarorum v1.0

  1. #1

    Default Europa Barbarorum v1.0

What does it mean when it says:
    1. Install RTW 1.0
    2. Update RTW with the v1.3 Patch
    3. Update RTW with the v1.5 Patch
    4. Load a game to make sure RTW is working (i.e. it should list the version number on one of the screens - see "Note1" below for details), and after confirming the version number, shut it down
    5. Copy this entire folder to a new directory and rename THE COPY (for example, instead of "Rome: Total War" it would be "Rome-EB")
    6. Install EB v1.0 into the new "Rome-EB" directory (Double-click the EBv10.exe file and follow the instructions on screen.)
    7. Load a game using the Europa Barbarorum 1.0 desktop shortcut created during the installation process (The EB Menu screen will have "ver. 1.0" imprinted on the bottom left)

Im stuck on point 5. the rest i understand

its really just asking you to make a back up copy of your entire RTW directory.

It doesn't sound like that is necessary for the EB installation (though the re-naming thing might be), but it would probably be a good idea. Though I thought they used a mod-folder...? maybe not.

Yeah, they do use the mod folder, but EB still modifies some files of the RTW installation, so to be sure it's safer to install on the backup.

Just copy the Rome folder, paste it, and rename it to whatever you want. I used to have "RTW 1.5" as backup, a "RTW - EB" and "RTW - Arthurian" folders for instance. It's not a necessary step, but saves the hassle of reinstalling Rome should you tire of EB or want to install another mod, or even just keep playing regular RTW. All you need to do is copy the RTW folder again for another mod.

Heh, the other day I re-installed Rome to try some more mods.
Did all that, copied it, installed EB on the copy, and then uninstalled the vanilla. I could still play EB, but when I put the disc in I had the option of re-installing Rome!

    (I have, everything works great)

Btw, patch Rome before you copy it, to be sure. I think that's what kept several mods working on my pc (despite the fact that when I checked the games' version, they all said the correct one..)
