No, because their pixel count is 256x256, not 512x512. They just look that good.

Hmm. First thing I thought was that maybe; perhaps the bowl of petunias really was going to hold a clue to the meaning of life the universe and everything. Then upon reading your post; I gladly realised I can stick with the definition being 42; and answer this question differently:

All I know about those skins -apart from them being more historically accurate; and a few people complaining about them- is that they are still made with the 256x256 resolution. Originally they were done in 512x512 but those versions were met with some sever internal critique regarding yardstick: only generals & cata-mounts get 512x512; the rest remains at 256x256 in order not to upset older systems too much.

Still, I am not really into skinning or modelling; so an answer from the GFX guys would probably be more helpful.

Only one correction. Generals, Lesser Generals, Officers, Standard Bearers and Cata-Mounts use 512x512 textures, the rest (units) use 256x256.

The new Centurion looks awesome. I just wish you guys had enough artists so that you could redo the whole Romani unit roster in this style. but because I am a graphic artist myself, I know that would take months, if not years, of work for one artist to accomplish this. I hope it will be done someday though :)
