Crazed Rabbit - I completely disagree. Colbert is excellent.
I will vote Colbert is Romney is not nominated. Not because I agree with him, but because I's rather have him than anybody else.

Humor is subjective, you guys realize this...
It's just you. Ratings under Kilborn were in the 200,000 range. Under Stewart, they're averaging 1.4 million per night. Awards won under Kilborn: 0. Awards won under Stewart: Lots and lots.Originally Posted by Xiahou
Ratings, awards, general cultural relevance, I don't know how many other measures one can use.
Also, for what it's worth, note that the cast of characters attacking Colbert is identical to the roster of Orgahs who defend Fox News Channel as "fair and balanced."

I dislike Stewart more often than not. His political commentary can be very funny, but I think he is a presumptuous know-it-all who can be tasteless with his jokes.

Not really. I don't think Rythmic for example expresses Republican views.Originally Posted by Lemur

Oh that's just Lemur's way of dismissing those who don't worship Colbert- accuse us of bias.Originally Posted by AntiochusIII

Xiahou says bias, I get a nickel. That's how it works.
And in fairness, all Rhythmic did was say he didn't think Colbert was funny. Not nearly as offensive as claiming that Craig Kilborn was a comic genius. Them's fightin' words.
I hope that's going in your kids' college funds.Originally Posted by Lemur

All I said was that he was funnier than Jon Stewart- that certainly doesn't have to make him a comic genius. And in fairness, all Rhythmic did was say he didn't think Colbert was funny. Not nearly as offensive as claiming that Craig Kilborn was a comic genius. Them's fightin' words.![]()
I don't think the Daily Show took itself as seriously back then, but to be fair, that probably isn't all Stewart's fault either.![]()

I'm still backing a Cthulhu/Nyalathotep ticket for '08. Although I guess it's all over but the crying anyway: Chuck Norris has chosen a candidate. As another writer put it:
As anyone who has ever watched Delta Force knows, with Chuck Norris on board, Huckabee will now be unstoppable. And by unstoppable, we mean they face the wrath of a man who is rumored to have played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won and who reportedly grinds his coffee with his teeth and boils the water with his own rage.
Yeah… good luck against that, Hillary.
For what it's worth ...
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that Colbert is preferred by 13% of voters as an independent candidate challenging Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Rudy Giuliani. The survey was conducted shortly after Colbert’s surprise announcement that he is lusting for the Oval Office.
The result is similar when Fred Thompson is the Republican in the three-way race. With Thompson as the GOP candidate, Colbert earns 12% of the vote.
Frankly, that's frightening, Lemur. I can only hope that people were taking a piss when they responded to the pollster. Wonder how Peter Griffin would stack up?
