Default Kimi and Ferrari - World Champions!

I'm aware that (from previous threads) you lot are supremely disinterested in F1, but what the heck.

Ferrari and Kimi Raikkonen are 2007 World Champions!

Going into the last race in Brazil with the faintest of chances, Kimi had to win the race and hope Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in the hitherto dominant McClarens would hit problems. And boy, did they hit problems. The most competitive season for years had the final standings decided by just one point between the three.

Kimi has always been a fast driver, but unlucky when he drove for the silver Mercs. Now he's a Ferrari man, we seem to have changed his luck. I'm very pleased for him and for us adding another World Champion to the roster.

Commiserations to Lewis, who drove an extraordinary first season. (And to the English, who just lost another championship this weekend). Alonso's proven himself to be a bit of a brat, so I don't have any sympathy for him, and unlike the English rugby team, this outgoing champion gave up with a whimper. (How I wish even more that Michael had done him last year...)

OK, I'm sorry. Back to your regularly scheduled Frontroom...

I´m have not been following F1 for the last 2 years really....but after the stuff that Mclaren pulled they didn´t deserve to win the world title anyway....so good on Kimi and Ferrari.

I am extremely pleased for young Kimi. He has had a dreadful start to the season (bar the first race that he won). He deserves it fully. He came into the race with only the slimmest of chances to get his first World Championship and delivered. By far the most interesting season for a very long time.

Hamilton showed nerves at the beginning and was then consequently let down by otherwise almost a faultless piece of machinery. I am sure that he will eventually win a driver's championship.

Alonso has had his hayday and it was about time for him to step down.

I am actually looking forward to next year. BMW Sauber will hopefully also play a part in the running for the championships.

Yes, well done to him and all that. Seem to remember he'd been
threatening a title challenge for some time now.

there´s no way the rulling body will allow Mclaren to win the title like this...not this year of all years.

    Like Slyspy said... Politics.

Really, though, there are precedents for cars being disqualified for minor technical infractions. Remember Schumi losing a win because the running board on his Benetton was 2mm too thin, or whatever it was?

Lewis has come out and said he doesn't want to win this way, but I'm not sure he has any choice if FIA actually enforce the rules.

Bah, I was a fan of Kimi when he came along in the F1. But now? No way!

    Hamilton all the way!
