Oh Noes!! The french are taking over our country!!

It's time for some minister swapping here in Norway these days, and one of the new faces to come in, is claimed by our right-wingers to "have no loyalty" to Norway.

You won't understand any of that though, so I'll explain:

Manuela Ramin-Osmundsen, the former head of the immigration office, is named as minister of the department of children and integration. The problem, though, is that she's a dirty frenchman, and we can't trust them, can we? At least not according to our good old conservatives... She's born in Martinique, lived in France until 1991 when she moved to Norway. So, she has lived here for 16 years, is married to the formed leader of the Young Conservatives and she has had very high administrative positions.

So, the question is, should I be worried now? Is Norway going to turn into New France or something?

Oh, and the best thing about this: The leader of the progress party(kinda like the republicans) said that he's worried that she will do things the exact opposite way of what his own party's policies are. Wow, I never would've expected that someone in a socialist government would do things differently from a conservative government!

Well Siv Jensen might show many qualities normally associated with being male, but I would hardly call her one just because of that..

Actually on topic:
Stoltenberg probably won't let her stray too liberally if he saw that this would turn the people against him.. Ok, this might not have been that much on topic either. Frankly I don't care, she can't be much worse than many of those that were and are ministers, and it is not like it is a post where she can do much damage.. (Atleast she is Ap and not SV)

Well, I was talking about Hagen, not her... But her title is a male title, so shouldn't we talk about her as a "he" when in this context?

Bah, around 60%+ voted for a liberal immigration policy. Besides, she isn't the minister for immigration anyway, so what's the issue?

Also, she's french, for heaven's sake... When did we ever fear hordes of frenchmen coming to our country to rape and pillage?

Ok, but Hagen is no longer the leader so you can see how I became confused, especially since it was FRP's spokesperson on immigration that is qouted in the article. The only reference to Hagen was that he made his usual comments that Norway is basically going down the drain in connection to the "scandal" she was involved in last year...

As for Siv Jensen being called a he because of her title.. No not really, it implies an insult that one should be respectful enough not to make, even if one disagrees with her opinions. (and yes I know you are joking, but I have decided to be a spoilsport, tonight..

)

Concerning the second part. Yes, like I said it is not a post where she can do much damage. What can she do, work to reverse 30-40 years of work for equality, make it even harder for immigrants to integrate..? In case this post did'nt make it clear, I actually agree with you that this is a non-issue that is being blown out of proportion by FRP as usual..

Frp is not "kinda like republicans" HoreTore. Thats a strange thing to say, if you mean the american republicans.

And I don't think that Frp guy is worried about her being french, but her having the "wrong" color actually.
