need assistance--script questions

Many thanks for making a beautiful game!
I've noticed that after starting and reloading a campaign for the first time
and hitting the script 'show me how'---that the date changes and the system runs slower. Prior to hitting the script button I would get the
'year in review' screen every year and the game ran smooth as silk---but once I reloaded and hit the script the yearly updates dissappeared and my
game goes back in time by a number of years (just the date)...Should I not
hit the script button? Is there something I can do so that the date stays
as it should be and I can get all the yearly updates and events?

You need to start the script. EB includes 4 turns per year, this is why the date changes. The slowness is because there's such a lot happening in the script. Trust me, you wouldn't get the true EB experience without it.

And if you have been playing with it off for more than half a dozen turns, you realy need to start a new campaign as half the AI factions will have permanantely stalled.
