Default CTD in strategy and battle maps

    Hi all,

Came back from overseas, an on checking news about my favorite mod, learned to see that 1.0 had come out! Sweeeeet!!!!

Drooling, I did a clean install of RTW then patched to 1.5. then installed EB 1.0. and restarted the computer.

Game loads, EB screen yes! Then... Activision animation (??) OK, no prob, perhaps the folks at EB plan on putting in their own animation at this slot. Game continues loading...oh yes!!

Loaded..wow! Played one of the historical battles. Oh! It works! it works! smooth animation, new skin...it works!! Did EB do something to the sky?? Wow, cool! Then went to play a campaign as the Romani (hey, I'm biased).

Wow! Look at that map! I prefer the old water animations, but hey. Scrolled all over Asia Minor, towards India and the Hindu Kush, even looked at the far Southeast to see the little E.B. island. This is...nice..! So I went back over to Italy and then...CTD!

Undeterred I reload and play. Mindful of the forums I read I stay clear out of recruiting from Rome. First battle Epiros attacks the expansionist peace-loving Romans, battle screen, Roman general shouts and...CTD.

I reload, played out a battle, but in the course of 2 EB years, the game has CTD'd numerous times on the strategy map (always near Italy) and I save after nearly every move.

In a nutshell, the game (at least on my system) suffers CTDs on both the strategy and battle maps, and they happen seemingly at random. Any help would be appreciated.

    My system:
    AMD 3500+
    2gig Ram
    Nvidia 6800 GT
    Win XP SP2

    Here is the savegame:

I'm sorry to add to the numerous CTD woes I see in the forums, but hope that the issue is resolved so we can play the best mod on the planet!

I am not sure what you mean by that it CTD's near Italy. What are you doing at the time of crash? Are you clicking a settlement, viewing a character, moving an army, watching AI moves, etc.

Got around to checking your game. I played out the battle, and it doesn't crash for 4 turns either on my installation. I would guess that either the current fixes works for this as well, or you have a problem with your installation and/or hardware.

Had two CTDs in the stradegy map playing with the Pahlavi against the Selukids.
In both cases I defeated two very small forces outside of Susa (on CPU turn) and after the battle resolved, when I clicked 'exterminate settlement', instant CTD. Now my system is a laptop of 2006 vintage and it runs vanilla RTW with no problems, so what could be causing the problem.

It's a RTW bug that one that's what I hard , I've had it happen a few times to me too... perhaps optimizing your swap, keeping your RAM as free as possible and stuff like that may help.

In some cases the traits could kick in and cause trouble too. You should try the temporary fixes and see if they help.

come to think of it, my problem is from RTW, but I never had a CTD like that in RTW. I did have a couple in BI, however.
