try and skin all the parts in almost the same place as your skin before and than it is only a matter of copy and pasting.

I never use them for battle units, but they do fix a known issue of white blobs on strat units.

yes, it is exactlly the same here, I do not think they make that much of a difference, but I have heard about the white blobs on strat units aswell so if ever I do a strat model I tend to use them ( occasionally I would use them for battle units aswell ).
