    Hi,
In the main menu select "options" and then select "performance" - there is a scroll bar there regarding unit size. Remember that altering unitsizes will also alter the training times (60 men infantry=1 year, 40 men cavalry=1 year IIRC, so a unit of 120men infantry in the highest setting will take 2 years to train) and also that the maintenance rates for armies are per man in the game files, and so you pay more for a single unit in huge since it has more men.

Just playing "Devil's Advocate" .... or possibly "Village Idiot"(!!!), but ...

If for some reason one were to choose to use SMALLER than standard unit sizes, does this REDUCE training time for units that require more than one game turn to train?

Also, does unit size affect artillery units?

I do believe all sizes under the largest 200? it only takes one turn to build.

I'm not quite sure about your second question but I would doubt that it would change the artillery unit size.

    Hi bamff,
i never played on smaller than default and yet i doubt that... it'll take less than a year to produce units - heh.

I think that the artillery crews are scalable ie change with the unit setting, but if you want to make sure - just check by trying or just inspect the unitprod file - one of the yes/no's in the column is about that i think and the key on the top tells you which one.

Not sure as I''ve never played on any size smaller than large, and mostly play on the huge size, as it adds more strategic depth.

    Yes.

Also even on the huge unit size it is worth noting that the 20 man bodyguard units still only take one year to train, as they're non scalable. It is a simple, and very worthwhile, bit of modding to make these scalable. Alternatively, in the case of the catholic factions, they can be removed altogether and replaced with Feudal Knights, Chivalric Knights and Lancers respectively to give full size bodyguard units, while the Ghulams, Boyars and Sipahi of the Porte can be increased to full size scalable.
