    Default Camels

Is it just me, or are there no camels in EB?

I'm pretty sure no faction can recruit them, I'm not sure about mercenaries though..

Is it something to do with the unit limit, or were camels simply not significant enough during the timeframe EB covers?

From what I've gathered, they were mostly used for transportation, and not in actual combat. The riders unmounted before the battle. It's either that, or the EB team hates camels...

The only reference to camels as combat mounts in the period I know of is that the northern Arabs apparently used camel-mounted archers (apparently present in the Seleucid skirmish line at Magnesia), but that's it. The animal is sorta bleh as a battle mount AFAIK.

    Ah right, cheers.

I'd thought several nations that faced nomads and horse archers a lot had used them in 'decent numbers'.
    Obviously I was wrong.

Of course they had them. The animals are about the best and most economical transport methods in their respective climates there were before internal combustion engines; the Ottomans later had them in their supply trains as far as Hungary.
They just weren't normally used for combat, being somewhat ill-suited for that.
