Thread: What faction has the largest victory condition?

Default What faction has the largest victory condition?

So what faction does it seem has to expand the most from it's initial starting place or exert the most effort to meet it's victory conditions?

It seems that Kartdast has the littlest area to expand, the only part that's fairly far from their area of influence is the province in Phonecia.

I think that Romani and Pahlava seem to have to expand the most and wit Pahvala exert the most effort to win.

AS has to bust a lot of factions heads to take their pieces of the pie. In terms of "death miles" (I believe thats a military theory term in some circles) they have as much as the Romans to munch, maybe more. Of course they don't have to fight themselves, which is a big advantage: I reckon the two times I ahaven't had to slay mountains of silver warriors so far is as the Lussotani and the Casse.

Relative to their starting position the one province factions (Saba, Casse, Lussotani, Getae) have to push a lot of poo up a lot of hills. The Getae ahave perhaps the smallest list of all, and few close neighbours to clash with but when you try to grasp those last provinces (be they Dalmatian or Asian) boy is it a slog.

I'm just playing Baktria, and they don't have a hard row to hoe: 3 neighbours, one weak and 2 at each others throats so you can pick up the pieces. Long distances of course but a corner position in India is a nice safe fallback. definitely one of the smallest in square miles, provinces and active opposition.

One thing about Pahlava; Do not look at the map. It's outdated. Their expansion goal will greatly resemble that of the Achaemenid frontiers. Their goals are tough for not only this reason; A seasoned player with the horse-archer + heavy cavalry combination has the potential to steam-roll any army; Sieges are not so exhaustive as a good player will know how to make use of the army to completely destroy even a numerically superior foe. I have reached the conclusion that ideally a good Pahlava player would realize that a simultaneous expansion towards four different directions (Think like an X-shape or something) would be optimal; Initially, a blitz to Ekbatana (Capturing Asaak, Zadrakata, Hekatompylos, and Apamea along the road, optimally one would also like Antiocheia-Margiane) then one can begin the violent expansion; The north-east is already covered, and from there one can start to pacify the frontiers and the steppes.

From Medea, one will need to fortify it, since it will become the centre of all operations. From there, annexing Persis and Elymais, while from Hekatompylos one will need to pacify Drangiane and Areia. Strategically, one can say that Ekbatana and Hekatompylos are potentially the strategic dividends; The former a launching pad for operations in the west, and the latter a means of safe-guarding the east. As such it is imperative to fortify these areas.

When the Seleucid threat has been eliminated, Baktria weakened and Saka fought back from Soghdiana, trust me, your only remaining threat for some time will be the Ptolemaioi; They are rather poor in cavalry, so you will have little problem defeating them, in difference to very tough opponents such as Saka, Sauromatae, Baktria and Hayasdan; Heck even AS are significantly tougher with their higher-end units. However a Pahlava army has one excellent advantage most other armies lack; They can blitzkrieg, much thanks to their mobility. If an infantry army seeks to besiege one of my cities, it is negated by going around to their rear and attack a suddenly defenseless city of theirs.

Much due to how simple the late game the Pahlava player is, I thought it was imperative to keep the adrenaline flowing by setting a far greater ambition as a goal; Supplaunt the Seleucids, eliminate the Armenian and Bactrian threat, and from there, when your enemies are few, pursue to recreate the Achaemenid borders and go beyond them.
