Default Problem with accessing mod - 'please select item from list'

Okay, I decided to try my hand at modding, and have got a map and everything, copied all the necessary files into my own mod folder and created both a .cfg and .bat for the mod. Now, I've got copies of the settlement names lookup text file and the campaign descriptions text file0 in my text folder, and all the necessary files from the base and imperial campaign subfolders - but there is a slight problem.

When I try to load my mod up, sure, it loads, no crash. I try to select the Grand Campaign, though, and it asks me to select an item from the list...in other words, a dialogue box that says 'Please select an item from the list' pops up, to be more specific.

What exactly am I doing wrong here? I've attempted this using the Sicilian Vespers map as the base map, removing all of the extra factions and possibly VnVs and units. Now, I also have the mercenaries file from it, so could that be it?

Or, am I missing any files at all? Any I should have modded or included in the text subfolder?

Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT: And when I tried a quick battle, the game crashed as soon as the map loaded...it showed some troops, locked, then encountered an unspecified error...

I also can't play custom or quick battles using the mod folder system...and I thought it removed the need for copying gigabytes of files, too, in that it would only look for the modded files, and any other files it would presume were in the vanilla folder...

I believe in a society without rules, laws and regulations. A society where there are only ideas - strict ideas that must be followed to by the letter - and any failure to comply is punishable by death. This would be no dictatorship or police state, no one would be living in terror. It would merely be a 'reassessment of one's preferences,' people living in 'not-so-optimistic security.' So, welcome, those who are 'longing to be blindly obedient and loyal, unbeknownst to them.'
