I just want to say congrats/thanks to econ, the BotFC write up is awesome, much more involving than a standard battle. All your hard work was well worth it.

Thanks, Stuperman.
GH and FH: I understand that there is going to be a battle at Bern next turn. Let's get the important stuff sorted out first: what do you want to call your respective armies?
I'll stick with the Army of Light.

"Lemur. Even if he's innocent, he's a pain; so kill him." -Ignoramus

Checking our PMs (around 10th October), I did raise the issue of an army name but I don't think we resolved it. Your army used to be the Prinz's army, but that was before the civil war, does not seem so appropriate and anyway most of that force later deserted. Swabian Ducal Army?
Warluster wanted his army named the Swabian Defence Force.
FYI: The turn will be moving ahead tonight. I am waiting for Ignoramus to fight his battle against the Danes. econ21 posted the notice of that battle yesterday at 19:48 EST. Thus, I will give Ignoramus until 20:00 EST tonight to fight it. If he does not, I will autoresolve it and move on to 1328 so that I can get the next turn report posted tonight.
Thanks everyone for being patient.
I'll be gone from tomorrow until the 16th of November. If someone wants to fight the possible battles I'd have to, then feel free to go at it.

Back.
Sorry guys, I've had to ask GH to fight my battle.
The first time I fought the battle, the computer restarted when I took a screenshot.
The second time, I recorded the battle stats, executed the prisoners, and the computer restarted when I attempted to save the game.![]()
So apologies for the delay.
Oh, and GH, please execute the prisoners.

Hope you have fun wherever you're going, WH.
Ignoramus has just PM'd me saying that he's having troubles with M2TW and requesting that I fight the Bruges battle. I can definitely get it done by TinCow's deadline, so taking the save now.
-edit- ...and, the entire second part of my post has been made obsolete.

Thanks to both Ignoramus and GH for getting the battle done quickly. Taking the save.
From an OOC perspective, I thought we only let proxies fight if players will be absent for a very long period of time rather than not being able to fight it within the usual deadline (in which case it should be autoresolved)?

The idea of a PvP assault on Bern got me excited, so I have come up with a map. We will use the Swiss Alps custom battle map with a huge city. This is my representation of that city:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Oh God this is gonna be fun.
Do the numbered points (S1, N5, etc) correspond to potential docking points or towers?

The numbered points are the towers (N1 = first north tower). NG is north gate etc. Brown tracks are the roads. The blue splondge is a mini-lake. Thick blue lines mark where the attacker can set up behind. Basically, I took the mini-map and blew it up to get the dimensions of the walls, then annotated those features.
That is an appropriate choice for a map, econ21. It is the exact same one I had GH fight his custom battle on to gain control of Bern.
I'm tempted to choose Option C just for the sake of a funny story.
In seriousness, with this 1328 turn, King of the Romans has now equalled Will of the Senate in the number of turns (124), counting WotS's four Civil War turns. It's also interesting that in Turn #124 for both PBMs a major PvP battle is taking place.

Duke Arnold smashed the Venetians where?![]()
edit: OMG TC!?!?! that captian led byzantine stack just outside of Bologna, what 's wrong with you!?!? that's just........mean. ;)

I'm guessing it was in the gonad's where the smashing occurred.Originally Posted by Stuperman

That was actually an afterthought. I realized I had given similarly frightening stacks to the French, Danes, Poles, Hungarians, and Venetians. I didn't want to be accused of bias in favor of Bavaria. Not that it matters... Lothar will be retreating to Innsbruck to build a proper army.Originally Posted by Stuperman
TC, I few questions.
I thought OK's avatar is the King of Outremer now? So he should get more wealth right?
Also, is GH's rebel capital besieged by FH's army in the storyline or are the army just camp outside the city? This is because you are giving GH points from a besieged capital if Bern is besieged.

Heh, Elberhard will throw the crown to him from the ship once it has left the docks. I assume because he wants to keep control of the finances until the fleet is good to go and not a moment sooner.

oops, my bad, forgot to look at Elberhard's income.
Not that it matters, really. None (neither... lol) of the Outremer provinces generate income until Elberhard is gone due to shipbuilding costs.
I did not know about the fleet thing when I picked up the crown, otherwise Elberhard might have been more "diplomatic". Originally, Elberhard wanted to control the money so he could gift it to his brother.Originally Posted by OverKnight
No worries, it's actually quite amusing and fits, might make good story fodder.

We are now at the halfway point of my phase of the cataclysm, and 3/4 of the way through the entire thing. So, if there are any comments or suggestions on the way I'm running this, I would like to hear them. Are things balanced enough? Too hard? Too easy? Too boring? Am I neglecting some areas/people? Feel free to speak your mind.
I'm having a blast in my own little corner of hell.![]()
You've done an excellent job striking a balance on the challenge of the cataclysm. Things are tough and we've had signifigant set backs, but there's still hope.
I like how different chars have reacted in completely different ways, some have gone pirate, some have rebelled and others toe the line. The story section has seen a lot more activity as well.
It's taking more time, but it's worth it.

Could not agree more the options for each character has been excellent really making the person think what is really the best option rather then just the safe option. Excellent!
The PvP option to work outside the game mechanics has also been great. It has been mentioned but if anyone is in that situation, that they do their best to get the orders in timely because of what work is involved to make it happen.
Otherwise time wise the pace has been good for what needs to be done in the background.
Though one less Hungarian stack at Budapest would have been nice. ;)
