What your favorite new unit in EB1.0?

Mine's got to be Clona Tekonac (Asturian Axeman). They're pretty hardcore and really add to my Lusotana army.

LONCHOPHOROI HIPPEIS, CELTO-HELLENIC INFANTRY and RHOMPHAIAPHOROI are the best!!!

lonchophoroi have staying power that the prodromoi don't have, celto-hellenic infantry are cost-efficient, and rhomphaiaphoroi are just plain cool. XD

I'm playing a Pahlava campaign right now. So ParthoHellenikoi Thureophoroi and Kardaka Arteshtar are the coolest additions to this faction. This is my opinion so far !

I just found this mod Sunday, so I'm really new, but. . .
So far, my favorite unit is the Ptol Royal Guard phalanx unit. My Saba royal army encountered one unit of them and one Ptol general @ Memphis. I could only see the general before I assaulted the town. He was easy enough to kill, but those royal guards took all of my missile attacks (slingers, archers, javelins), then melee with 2 of my generals and 2 units of bribed galatian swordsmen. They stayed in phalanx formation, surrounded, until they got down to ~20 men left, then they switched to swords and fought on for another 10~15 minutes! They almost won the battle by timing it out!
Very much looking forward to "meeting" the rest of the factions in this INCREDIBLE mod

Weaklings? The Ptollies attacked me with 3 elite phalanxes and a few skirmishers, while I had almost a full stack of Carthage and Numidia's finest. If it wasn't for the townsquare negating my troops routing they would've poked alot of holes in my general. I just kept charging them with my heavy cav and they barely felt it.
I still panick whenever I see a Ptolie stack on my porch.

I'm loving the Indo guild warriors, they're pretty brutal got a couple of units of them in my Baktrian campaign. I would love to get hold of some of those Bosphoran Theoruphoroi archers too but I guess I've got to start a KH or Pontos campaign first :(

I really like the Karian warband mercs and lonchophoroi cav. The Pontic Thorakitai are great too. Hell I like all the new units!

Ah, yes, the new ptolly guard are probably the reason their empire isn't dead yet (it was usually one of the first to crumble in 0.8 after all...), it's faring well against the sels...
I have to say Sacred Band are cool, but something about the elite Lusotannan spearmen makes them look like walking tanks, thus even cooler...

great to hear that some of these new units like the lonchophoroi, uazali, rhomphaiaphoroi, thureopherontes toxotai and pontic thorakitai are being put to good use. anyone played around much with the komatai epilektoi or cordinau orca? we've got a new east european celt coming up in the next release, its a very cool unit.

oh, and the ptolemaic elites aren't new units...the only new ptolemaic units are thorakitai, uazali, and lonchophoroi.

I love the lusitanian units...they look so badass, no gay paint all over them, they aren't naked exhibitionists either. Just plain barbarian badasses

The Thracian Elite Infantry are bloody brilliant!I also really like the..."Teceitos" is it? The celtic axemen unit and the naked celtic infantry.

Epilektoi hoplitai, indo-helenic noble hoplites, germanic bodyguard, thureophorontes toxotai and all new heavy cavalry units (pontic bodyguards, saka nobles, hetairoi kataphraktoi...) but I cannot say that there is one bad unit.

I was pretty surprised by the Ioudeioi. They kick ass and they are versatile! In the beginning of the game, they saved my Ptolemaioi from the grey blob. When the king arrived with the Phalanxes, the war was already won.

The Samnites too. All of them. Their stats are lousy but they are so full of hate. GOD! You have to love them! In my Roman game, One of my samnite hastatii won a hazing match with those crazy naked gauls, the Gaesatae. Ok, they were so hammered that they were useless after that (20 guys left on the 80 something in the beginning of the battle), but the spirit! They never broke, they keep fighting with their ugly grin until the naked fools run.

They won no XP though...

I usually roleplay an empire built around a specific unit or units

A Massilian (As Arverni), Ligurian (As Roman), Syracusan (As Koinon Hellenon) or Goidilic Empire (As Aedui or Lusotannan)

Im playing a Massilian Empire right now and its a lot of fun
after that i will play the Goidilic next or maybe Syracusan

Talking only about aesthethics, not performance:

I like the Kluddargos, the Elite Thracian, but I specially like the Syracusan Hoplite. I felt almost in love with that unit.

EDIT: Damn, I forgot the Epilektoi Hoplitai. Real badass!

anyone played around much with the komatai epilektoi or cordinau orca?

Kamatai epilektoi are really pretty & good fighters :)
But they don't really compare on the favourite scale to the mighty rhomphaiaphoroi.
I'm also rather confused by them, they cost more than twice the price of komatai but have a fair bit cheaper upkeep, making it rather tempting to just train the epilektoi variety instead of keeping them as only a small elite of that type.

I must say the Uirodusios are my favourite newcomers.They're not as good as the Gaesatae, but damn if they don't don't do some serious damage anyway. There's just something special with a naked soldier.

My favorites are the Ethiopian cavalry. I like their appearance and use one or two units of them in all my stacks.

Also, from a non Celtic Perspective, the BEST medium Infantry and BEST Archers are going to be Toxotai Theurophoroi.
