Thread: Performance Issues

    Default Performance Issues

Hello fellas. I got a pretty odd problem. The world map is very choppy. I'd guess an FPS of about 4-5. Why is this? My system is new with 2gbs of 6400 ram, an AMD dual-core and a geforce 7800GT. All other games runs smooth and high graphics, but EB 1.0 doesn't. Any known issues?

That usually happens when you try to move a unit so far that it will take multiple turns. Hitting 'end-turn' should fix it...

I think the Geforce 7800GT is slowing the rest of the rig down. Also, EB requires a lot of resources initially, indeed a lot more than vanilla RTW, and even M2TW.

Edit: My mistake, I was thinking the 6xxx-series. I had a 6600 which couldn't do anything at all right. I guess the 7800GT is quite capable.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

Yeah, I get this too. It's no big deal though, and I discovered a little trick you can do to get rid of it without ending the turn.

After you move a unit and you start getting a very low framerate, just move a unit out of a city and then back in, and the slowdown is gone. It doesn't have to be a unit thats in a city, but it's what I do (so I don't waste movement points of units who are out campaigning).

Aside from this, EB always runs very smoothly for me.

Edit: I have a GeForce 7900GS, but EB really ran fine with my old 6600GT too. I still had this "problem" with that card, though. I wonder if everyone has it or if only GeForce owners have it.

That really takes the edge of it. Great trick. The campaign map is still not perfect, but much much better. As for my gfxcard, I borrowed it from a friend, budget wouldn't allow a new one :p I'll be getting a 8800 after the next pricedrop though.

    Thanks for the help!

    Cool Re: Performance Issues

Also, I would add, I use 64-bit WinXPSp2 - that is realy something that runs EB 1..
I had EB 1 on my WinXPSp2 32-bit - but it was much slower then, much slower.. My game now loads 30% faster at least!
