I have this too. I can build structures but not units. Doesn't matter how i try to access the recruitment screen its always ctd. So I move my character (Manivs Cvrivs Dentatvs) out now I can recruit in Roma. But it ctds when i try to look at his details. The year is 267bc.

I think this could be trait problem so here is a list of things he did:
He built paved roads, avxila copiis regionis, avgvrvm aedes in roma
He taxed very high, recruited a few foot soldiers,
He fought a battle versus one unit of rebels and won a clear victory

    I am using BI.exe too

Yeah... The old bastard is up to his tricks again. Too bad I can't kill him off as he is saving me 800mnai a turn sitting on his arse in Rome. The grumpy sob will probably live to 100 for all of my luck!

    Hi,

    I have the same problem.

I am running the version 1.0 under RTW 1.5 without BI.

    OS is vista 64.

The game runs perfectly except everytime I am trying to open the recruitement window of Rome. I can open all other windows without crashing.

I tried several ways to open the window (browsing the list of armies, first selecting the city and opening from the army button, opening from the buildings in the city and changing tab to recruitement but I have the same result).

I tried a repair of the game. renamed the file map.rtw and restarted.

I have read about a script file to launch or disable. Is this script still used in 1.0? How can I disable it?

btw.. kick ass mod it is :)

I think that crash is related to the general inside of Roma. Can you try moving him out then trying to open the recruitment tab in Roma?

I've had the same CTD in the fall of 272. Dentatus is made (or given) "Auctoritas". I hit the recruitment button in Rome ... CTD. No BI, by the way.

EDIT: I thought I would try to move Dentatus out of the city. How to do it? Aha! Instead of hitting the recruitment tab, I'll hit the "Army" tab! That ought to do it!

    CTD ...

Concerning my CTD, the savegame file is:

    http://uploaded.to/?id=219wym

As stated before, the crash occurs every time I attempt to open recruitment in Roma. It's 271bc, and Manius Dentatus is in the city.

Well my general (and family chief) died a few years later and the CTD didn't happen again. So I believe he was bugged.
Since then everything works fine :)

Thanks a lot to OldGamer, who spotted the Auctoritas trait on his faction leader, this was verified to be the cause of the CTD . Please pick up the permanent fix in the thread linked in my sig.
