Thread: Faction destroyed...

    Default Faction destroyed...

I'm relatively sure this is not a bug, but something strange happened in one of my campaigns. The Lusotanni were destroyed for no apparent reason. They had 4 provinces and were not at war with anyone. I couldn't find any signs of plagues or something. I suspect that their last family member was killed fighting the numantian rebels, but I wonder why they didn't have more FMs with 4 cities then. The last savegame where they were still there was 30 years prior, I could spot a 65 old faction leader and a 25 year old FM, but no heir.
Could it be they just died out? Usually the small factions have many more FMs, even with only 4 cities...

Some factions just die out sometimes. The game will usually make it so that a faction has the same amount of family members as settlements, but not always. I've personally seen both Lusotan and Sweboz die out in this fashion while playing EB.

Ok, I thought so, but have never seen something like that. I always had the impression that factions get a lot of adoptions when they loose FMs in a war, but it seems it was too late here and old Moskon finished off a whole faction.

That's not entirely true, from what I hear. It's more like 2/3 of the number of your settlements or some such. In any case, IIRC born-but-not-yet-come-of-age FMs also count as an FM when it comes to chances of getting new ones, so a faction could, if I'm right, have just one FM in play and still get no births/adoptions/MotHs. Obviously, if that one FM dies before someone else comes of age...
