Thread: For those who want to maintain a pure bloodline.

Default For those who want to maintain a pure bloodline.

After some testing and searching around different forums, i think i find the way to maintain a pure bloodline. (ie. no adoption, no marriage to female family member, no man of hour event)

First of all let me explain the mechanic of the family tree system.

There is a hidden ration between number of family members to province, if the ratio of that is way too low, the game will try to balance up this ratio by pumping up the number of family members, in this order:

Adoption -> Marriage among female member ->Marriage among male member

Since marriage among male member cant instantly increase the family size, it get the least priority. ** And this means, as long as you have a unmarried female members, you will NEVER get any marriage proposal for your male members.

I believe many of us did make the same mistake to reject all marriage proposal for husband in order to keep the true bloodline, but ironically this just prevent the male members to get marry and produce children.

Therefore, the way to avoid this is accept all husband proposal and get him killed in battle. (ie. eliminating the female members in the family tree)

Or, you can mod the game which female member will "retire" in a single turn. (mature at age 16, retire at age 17)

ps. Never expand your kingdom too fast or you will only get adoption offers instead of marriage offer. Once you get adoption offer you have to stop expanding your land but expanding your family tree first.

Are you sure? I had a situation at the end of my AAR where I got ten+ turns worth of marriage proposals for a particular non-princess daughter, but at the end of that period with her still unmarried my King had a son. Maybe because I captured a new territory it 'reset the seed' or something?

You can get children born even with some unmarried daughter, but you wont get any marriage offer for your general until your daughter get married.

It is important to get your male members marry in order to keep the pure bloodline at the first place, especially for those muslim faction which your heir/king cant marry to princess.

May i ask in your ten+ turns which you reject those marriage proposals for your non-princess daughter, did you get any marriage for your male generals?

Nope, I got nothing but that same girl for the whole period. She was the first of four unwed sisters in that line. I kept rejecting it because I was waiting for my King to produce an heir, after he produced an heir I was very nearly done with the game, so I don't recall what happened afterward. I was playing the Danes so I generally had a foreign princess lined up for my princes as soon as they turned 16 and didn't much care if the others got married or not.

I also drowned three generals over that time period (Two weak youngsters and an old man who was ready to go) and lost one to a storm.
