I'm working on my own version of the Retrofit Mod. In a nutshell, I eliminated most of the tech tree to tie all units to basic structures like castle level, city wall level, etc. Theory was that it would make it easier for the AI to match human development, so it would field better armies, etc. Still a work in progress but having some success. I didn't touch any entries concerning Guilds.
BUT-- I've found that for some reason this has had an extreme impact on Guilds. I had almost NEVER been offered a Masons Guild (maybe once every 10 games or so)-- all of a sudden they were popping up everywhere (to the point they were unbalancing the game). Was so overpowering I modded them out!
Also, Swordsmans Guilds had been relatively uncommon but they were also offered MUCH more frequently (even to cities). I was fine with that!![]()
I'm not complaining. All in all I rather like the fact that Guilds of all types seem to be offered MUCH more frequently. I bring it up because I was originally concerned just the opposite would happen since I wasn't building barracks and stables and other stuff. Go figure!
