DVI is a much, much better standard, as it preserves a digital signal from the graphics card to the monitor (but knowing that's useless to you, of course )

There are DVI-VGA converters available quite cheaply; indeed most graphics cards should have come with several. Ask your system builder, or check the box.

You can pick up a converter at your local tech shop for about $3 US. It's just a small wedge shaped plastic dongle with ports on either side. Make sure you buy the right direction though, the smaller VGA port should have holes instead of pins.

Also, I'd like to say the computer runs very, very well. Thank you to everyone who has helped me out with this, the end result was a great product and I am very happy with it.
