Thread: Grand Campaign - Too few turns remaining

Default Grand Campaign - Too few turns remaining

    Hi,

I'm playing the Grand Campaign, but I'm just running out of time. 61 turns remaining which won't be enough to take the 45 regions...

    - Can I somehow change it to have more turn remaining? Maybe unlimited
    turns remaining...
    - I read that in the descr_strat file, I can change the timescale to 0.50 and
then the time will slow down. If I change it in the middle of the campaign,
will then have an effect or I have to start a new campaign?

I have played hours in this campaign and I cannot finish it in the remaining 61 turns... so please help me in this.

Why not? I think I've won the game from scratch in that time...Just blitz.

Changing the file will work only for new games. The ones you started will not. But even if you dont mod, after 65 turns you still can play. The problem is that you will not receive the victory message. By the way what have you been doing for 180 turns ?

    Thanks!

For 180 turns... I had a hard starting, almost destroyed, but I came back and destroyed my enemies. Maybe I was too slow, but now I have a good position in the games (I play with HRE), but I don't want only to blitz and attack... attack. I don't have a panzer division ;-D ;-)

What will happen if there is no remaining turns? What if I do not have the 45 regions? Can I play afterwards and continue the game? Just to finish what I began... even if I ran out of the limited turns.

Anyway... Thanks for Your answers... it is always good to learn from Experts!

Nothing will happen. You will lose the game, but can still continue to play as long as you like. You won't see the victory video, but maybe there's a defeat video

Maybe you still have a chance to win. What is your strategic position?

I also thought I will lose my last campaign with the Turks, after a bit of a slow start and heavy wars with Mongols.

After I defeated Mongols, I created 3 army groups and sent them to conquer Europe and North Africa. I won.

Also, you can win it by making some factions your vassals...

At the end in my Spain campaign, I made the Danes my vassals, and I gained 18 provinces under my rule! I took me 3 million florins to do it though...

I play with HRE and middle Europe is mine: Arhus, Hamburg, Magdeburg, Frankfurt, Bern, Metz, Staufen, Nuremburg, Innsbruck, Vienna, Prague, Milano, Genoa and the whole Italian part, Zagreb, Ragusa.

I should still conquer: French (I have started), England, Spain, the East, Middle-East, Africa...

I do not really care if I do not get the Victory sign... if I can continue and finish the campaign, even if not in time.

Thanks for your answer... now I will continue... however I started to think to cancel this campaign and start all over again.

You could easily do it. It's like a see saw - when it tips you can crush anyone. If you're the strongest nation you just get stronger and richer. Looks like you're in a good position. Once you start winning it's hard to stop.

I think when the turn count is up you can still keep playing, not with no more advances in technology or historical events.

Do you get back that money because they're your vassal?

    Here is a little programm I saw on twcenter a while ago that allows you to change your savegames;
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ght=medmanager

You can adjust both the years per turn, and the ending date (and a lot of other things)

    Have fun :)

It has over 32.000 downloads. Thanks for the kind words I got over the years :).

I've been looking for a way to cut down the number of rebel spawns on my already running saved game.

Can I edit the descr file for rebel spawn rates with this program?

No I don't think it can change that, sorry.

But I do have a solution for it if you don't mind cheating the rebels out; open the console, type 'auto_win attacker' close the console. Then the next autoresolve you make, the attacking faction wins. So get one militia unit and attack the rebels and autoresolve... gone are the rebels.
It's an easy way to wipe out the rebels fast, but yeah, it's cheating... so it's up to you.

    Nice!

I've been meaning to finish my game, but the (*&*(& rebels are getting in my way.

There's a nice little feature in this Forum, called "Spell Check". I'd suggest you to use it when posting.

I can't spell either, but using spell checker prevents my posts to look like this

Well the darn achilles heel of RTW and M2TW is that when you have, say 0 provinces or less, you've reached the point of no return, at which time it is virtually impossible to loose.

Most likely you'll be able to finish the campaign well within the passing of those 61 turns; either that or you'll be too bored to complete it.
    Runes for good luck:

IMO 61 turns is more than enough. Expansion is always slow at first, but then it increases exponentially if you fight your battles smartly and don't go in ramboing. If you already have a decent empire, it would be a piece of cake to finish out the game. Just get your pope to call a crusade, have your generals all join it to get a lot of cheap mercs and then abandon it and boom you have a couple of stacks with which you can use to conquer the world.

Once you abandon the crusade your mercs will desert.

    Nope, they won't.

Mercs only desert if you are too far from the intended crusade target once the turn ends, but if you abandon the crusade, they will stay with you. They will have an upkeep cost, however, thats not the point since you will have a ton of expendable troops with which you can start conquering

Thank You very much! All of You!

I made it! I control 46 regions and there are still 25 turns remaining and the game allows to play after the winning screen.

You helped a lot, thanks again!

I agree not to cheat... it takes away the fun of the game. .-)
