    Default An Adaptation of Poe

    I regularly visit another military history forum, and in February they began the Sea-lion thread. This thread discussed the practicality of invading Britain, in 'Operation Sea-Lion'. Well, it dragged on (Think of the Babe Thread, Backroom video, Welcome to the Forum thread all combined into one). Here are the results.

    Once upon a forum dreary, there was casually proposed a theory,
    But what had started as a question, soon had grown to cruel obsession,
    As if the whole world debating, debating that was escalating.
    Escalating to berating and often times infuriating;
    Thus was born, Sealion.

    If only we had been more wary, that bleak and bitter February,
    What fools were we to believe, what better men could not achieve?
    It will remain a mystery, why some sought to rewrite history.
    To then choose to choose up sides, to argue weather and the tides,
    Where fact and fiction could collide, and opinion form but to divide;
    All, in the name of Sealion.

    And so it went on page by page, on and on in bitter rage,
    An ever spiraling tit for tat, if that was this and this were that,
    Till one unseemly flipped the bird, and another posted a naughty word,
    While some continued to be absurd others walked away perturbed.
    Amid the fires of an all out flame war’,
    Quoth revans, "Nevermore."

    Hardly was there such misery, discussing alternative history,
    When appeared on the dark horizon, a warship with the Jolly Roger flyin’.
    But the warning shot went ignored, by those oh so self absorbed,
    Who claimed they'd yet to hit their stride, with still more theories to be tried,
    And continued so until replied by a final, well aimed broadside,
    And thus was sunk forevermore, the legend of Sealion.

    Have you just been dumped?

    I ask because it's usually something like that which causes outbursts like this, needless to say I dissagree completely.
