    Thumbs up Outstanding.

Hello EB team and fellow forum subscribers.

First i would like to add my congratulations and thanks to the EB development team. It is a work of love and it shows in every unit stat and building description. Being a history junkie, so far i have spent almost as much time reading the in depth historical info as riding down skirmishers. (On the subject INMO Prodromoi is the best cavalry unit in game.) I found that VH/H is the setting i enjoy the most, but what adds a whole new level of realism for me is the BI patch. (esp. if you play coastal/island heavy faction).

With EB 1.0 i fired up KH Pegasus war machine and so far i have manged to piss off just about every nation that borders my growing demos empire.

Which brings me to a few questions that i have for the people in the know.

    1. I find that if i get a new family member under 20 through marriage or man of the hour and put the in Sparta they don't trigger Agogi event for some reason.

    2. I dont see KH phalanx in my lvl 4 MIC's (factional). Athens, Pella etc...

    3. How do you "ram" AI units with yours.

    4. During the battle i group identical units (Akontistai, Hippakontistai etc.), but when i select that group (i use bottom unit panel) and order it to charge only one unit from the group responds. I am sure it is not an EB but CA issue, but i am hoping that there is a solution that i am missing.

Thank you in advance for the responses.

    Roman.

    3) "Ram" AI Units?

    4) I've heard of this, especially when dealing with missile units (I usually run into it when I'm trying to counter-charge with missile units who've exhausted their ammo). As far as I know it's been a problem since the original RTW release, and there's nothing any of us can do about it.

    1) No clue.

    2) I would check the unit recruitment program, but I'm too lazy.

    Cheers.

1- This may have to do with the weird RTW engine thing where only 2 guys can go through the Agoge at one time. It is one of those things the engine does for no reason...

2- The KH have a phalanx unit as a reform unit, you have to wait until the vanilla marian reforms to get them.

3- If you are talking about the phalanx tactic, then all you have to do is tell your unit to move somewhere behind the enemy. When the two units come in contact, your unit will stop moving and start fighting the enemy.

    1. For my Makedonia campaign when I don't have 2 people in the Agoge it does not trigger if the family member is through marriage or through benefactor. The only ones that seem to qualify are direct descendants of the Argeades tree. I thought this was purposeful so didn't assume to mention it.

Oh yeah, you're right. I didn't read the question thuroughly. Adoption and Man of the Hour men cannot go through the Agoge. This is because the team didn't want anyone over 20 going through the Agoge and there is no way of telling how old Adoption or Man of the Hour guys are.

    1. We can't detect the age of newcomers to the family, so we don't allow Agoge for them. The alternative would be that 40-year-old adoptees started at it as well. If the adoptee is a spartan, however, he will have undergone the Agoge already.

    4. The game will choose targets depending on each unit's position, if you give an attack order to a full group. This is - almost - good for infantry, as you can give a charge order and the whole line will charge nearly straight at the enemy. For missile units, however, it's completely bonkers. To work around it, simply press G right before giving the order, then press G again.

Edit: Duh, I read the rest of the thread now and saw that Marcus already answered the Agoge correctly.

On a related note, why don't the starting Spartan characters have agoge-traits?

I am about to start moving up the Italian "boot", will Marian reform hit even if I control the peninsula? or should i hold off my assault?

When you attack/charge do you click/2xclick on the enemy unit (attack order), or do you click/2xclick on the ground directly behind it (move order)? I am finding out that using the latter seems to work better and removes a possibility of a bizarre and frustrating creep, when unit starts to deform as men literally start to inch their way towards the enemy.

I was always wondering what works for other players during town wall combat. Do you try to position your units directly in front of the tower, ladder once it reaches the wall? or do you let ai move on to the wall and then attack?

Thank you for the answers already provided guys.

Holding all of Italy and Sicliy is required for the reforms. Most of the time I use double click to tell inf to atack inf, cav I use single click to get a maximised charge.

I position my units dirrectly in front of towers and ladders.

Isn't this weird? Why would KH get a reform for something that happens in Italy?

When that happens, do you get informed or is it up to you to notice you have a whole bunch of new units to recruit?

This was a good question, "What happens if I conquer Italy before that?". It's unlikely to happen, but still...

IIRC you get the vannila marian reforms screen. After that you can recruit the new units.

Yes, there is a notice. "March of Time", as said by others.

It doesn't matter who builds the huge city in Italy. If you conquer Italy, then you are in control of when the reforms happen because you are the one who has to build a huge city.

the polybian reforms are not linked to the vanilla marian reforms. The KH pike unit however is. What faction are you playing?

Thanks for such a prompt response gents. I am playing KH, didnt know that Rome does not count toward "build a huge city in Italy" condition, i did take Capua (city just south or Rome) with 20k in population in hopes of building it up towards 24k, but then i decided to grab Rome once i noticed its "huge" status. Long story short, Capua rebelled and i found out just how crazy those slaves can be on the walls (lost 1/4 of my army and general). I think i still have some time before AI starts to spam me with pikes in Anatolia, so i will "grow" one huge city by natural means (ie spam produce grison units and disband them in one Italian city).
