Consoles are toys. I'm too old to be buying toys.(Said firmly tongue in cheek, if you can't tell)
Quite frankly, though, if I didn't also work on my PC I wouldn't buy one just for games.

PC, of course. I think that'll be the easy answer on this forum because it's for a strategy game forum. Strategy gaming on consoles, handhelds, and arcade cabinets is essentially non-existent. Gamepads and joysticks work find for action-oriented games, but they are abysmal for most strategy games. Until keyboards become standard issue with consoles, PCs will be the only truly viable platform for strategy gaming. Plus, even with the action games, PCs produce far, far better graphics if you can afford the latest hardware. The only area where PCs are inferior, IMO, is social gaming.

What I'd love is a game that was EU strategy, TW battles and then the ability to go in and fight as one of the plebs using a Wii.
However given restraints of time I play PC games in short bursts that I can save as I go (CIV IV is remarkably good for this) and console games require little investment other then a warm up period to remember the controls.
It's true that the pc has more real time strategy, but if you like the much, much deeper turn-based strategy genre, virtually absent on the pc, consoles for the win.

Agreed. all the rest for kids.PC, only PC and nothing but the PC.
PC and Xbox, depends what kind of game I'm playing.
It depends on the question, I guess. Right now, if I could only play games on one system, it would be my DS. Great games, highly portable and convenient.
However, the PC deserves special recognition for it's depth and breadth of games and the ability for basically anyone with the interest to go out and write/share their own game. Also points to the PC for gaming customization/modability.

PC. The ability to mod games is a delicious advantage over consoles.

Console, pc feels like working.
For a short time, it was PC.
But now, it's back to console gaming. Controlling things with a keyboard can be fiddly and this distances me from the game. Whereas, controllers seem to have me more immersed in things (it's simpler and I can rely on reactions rather than thinking about what I need to press). Just personal opinion.
Console. Like Craterus, I find it easier when since I know where all the controls are located. I'm terrible at controlling things with a keyboard and mouse. It's gonna be a bad day for me if consoles ever switch to keyboard controls.![]()
Pc.
I'd like to stop here now, because if I don't, a huge rant about consoles will begin...

Yeah, but that's where the relatively open-ended, customizable side of PC's come in. I use one of these for PC gaming...Originally Posted by Brave_Sir_Robin

That sits under my left hand, the mouse under my right. It's fully programmable so *I* get to decide what I want my left hand fingers to be doing in a game. I'm not locked into what a console developer or even a PC game programmer thinks is an ideal setup. Right now, I have custom profiles set up for M2TW, Silent Hunter 4, Bioshock, WoW, and GalCiv2. Any new game that comes out on a PC, I can customize for the hand controller.
For flight sims and space combat games that support full joystick controls, I have this:

Sadly, I haven't used that stuff in about a year, since my main interest is combat flight sims (helicopters especially), and cockpit-level space games. That's a moribund market right now. But at least I have the gear if this side of PC gaming picks up again. Meanwhile, the Nostromo controller is getting a ton of use in almost every game I buy.

PC, in general. Consoles tend to make me feel separate from the game with iffy, minimalist control schemes. Wii-mote is considerably better then pads at that, but only when they aren't shoehorning games designed with a gamepad in mind into the wiimote mold, which, unfortunately, is almost never.
