"Fabius Maximus" is not his name but part of a trait, too.

No, but the internal naming convention for Roman characters has. This was done to accomodate the new Roman Gens trait and Client Ruler systems. Several different internal names now map to a single display name. The give_trait cheat relies on the internal name, so there is no longer any way to determine exactly what it is from the display name.

I'm afraid that, except for starting characters, it's now very difficult to give Roman characters traits.

yep, you can use [give_trait "Gaivs" Trait 1] but you cant tell which Gaius it will give it to, if there's more than one.

Actually the Roman characters have a dummy surname, Romanvs, which isn't displayed. Thus, someone named Titvs Fabivs Maximvs is internally Titvs Romanvs, and accounting for the plethora of other dummy names in the Roman name pool, he might as well have the first name TitvsA, TitvsB, TitvsC all the way up to TitvsK. So, trying to use console commands may be a bit futile

Does anyone know the internal name of Caivs Avrelivs Cotta then? He's a starting character, and I wanna cheat

He got two heroic and several other victories against Carthage, so I think he deserves Imperator. Especially compared to the torrent of triumphs the Romans get in the "year in history" messages...

You should be able to find the internal names for starting characters in the descr_strat.
