Default Report from my first 1.0 campaign

Hello, I thought that it would be fine to post here and share my adventures since I didn't showed here since EB 1.0 was released due to heavy addiction which I have nursed for this great game. Currently I am playing my second campaign and the year in my current game is 211Bc. So you can see that I am really dedicated and devout player.

For my first campaign I have picked Pontos. I progressed quite slowly but steadily. After couple of years I controlled Trapezous, Sinope, Amesia, Nikaia and Byzantion I have also conquered one city in Bosporus (Cheronesos?). Then Arche Sleukeia attacked me and I have lost all my allies. I was able to hold them back and I have immediately "liberated" Mazaka. Then I fought series of battles against Seleucid agressors for couple of turns (I have won majority of them but I have even suffered some costly defeats - due to the fact that mine phalangelites were inferior to those of my enemy) and I was succesfull at defending my territories, and I have even conquered second bosporan city (Pit..something). And also I have installed pupet ruler into the city of Ani-Kamah (spelling?) But I have lost Byzantion and Nikaia to Seleucids. Then something terrible happened Ptolemies signed alliance with Arche and those damn egyptians had attacked my city Mazaka wich shares borders with thier Tarsos. I was able to defend my city against them and then I have succseeded again and again in the same task of defending Mazaka against Ptolies.
So at that period I fought two fronts war and I was able to defend my teritories but it has putted a big burden on my resources and incomes. Then Seleukids send a diplomat and asked me to become their protectorate, and to give them Mazaka. I saw no other option and I was forced to accept this shame, in hope of peace and relieve. But the peace and my role of subjected nation to Seleucids was short lived, because those treacherous silver bastards had attacked my capitol Amasia just couple of turns later. I gained some clear victories and pushed them back, I have even reconquered Mazaka. Ptoleis attacked me again, and I had to once again face two front war. And then I have suffered a yet another terrible blow, this time by Hayasdan. Who decleared a war on me. And they quickly conquered my two poorly defended Bosporan provinces. And also their army was spotted by my spy marching towards Ani Kamah. My forces were needed westward from Sinope where I fought and won battle against Seleucid army, so the decision was made to left only small garrison in Ani Kamah, and predictably it was captured by rather big army of Hay. And at this time I gaved up and admited failure. It was the year 233 BC and my once promising Pontic Kingdom was reduced to only four remaining provinces - Sinope, Amesia, Mazaka and Trapezous. Facing three front war against my only three neighbours.

My failure was caused by wrong decisions in diplomacy from my part - I allowed Seleucids to attack me first and thus I lost my allies (most importantly Hayasdan) and I aslo at one time refused alliance which was offered to me by Ptolemies.(It was right after Arche declared war on me) I refused this offer in hopes of future ceasfire with Seleucids. But as I said it was probably the biggest mistake because couple of turns after this, Seleucids signed ceasfire with Ptolies and shortly after it was followed by firm alliance between the two.

It was really great campaign I still have a save, and maybe later on I will try the impossible and will try to continue in that game immediately facing three dangerous enemies.

Now I am deep in my second campaign, playing as Bactria the year is 211BC. I will report from this current ongoing campaign later. For now I will just say that I have great time and that late bactrian bodyguards are the most badass unit ever. I hope that I haven't bored you with my rather long post. And again I would like to thank to all of those who worked on this amazing mod. You have greatly exceeded all my wildest expectations and you have made my wildest dreams possible with 1.0 release. THANK YOU!

i read the trick is to cancel the alliance with AS before thy attack so you keep your other allies. still to try it myself though.
    good luck in future.

    Wow, That looks challenging.

I could probably turn that situation around if you would Upload your save file.

Sure man. Here it is. If you will try it I wish you to have lots of fun.

Only this save is from the year 236BC, I dont have 233BC saved - probably as I was pissed of because of the lost of mine bosporan provinces. So I didnt stored it. So this is three years prior to that disaster scenario that I have described previosly.

And I just checked the situation ingame and at this point in this save you still have both Bosporan cities and also your army just conquered Kotais. So besides that you owns Amesia, Sinope and Trapezous and your Mazaka is besieged. And you are in red numbers.

Mistakes I made before from this point onward are following - I lost Kotais just like three turns later - and also I withdraw much of my garrison army from Bosporus as I needed them near my capitol to fight against seleucids and near mazaka to defend it from Ptoleis. So don't make the same mistakes.

And here is also as a bonus my current baktrian campaign from 211BC

I am rich thanks to mines. From the begining I am in firm alliance with Pahlava. And from begining of that campaign I have trade rights and neutrality with Sakas (who are occupied with steppe wars against Pahlava) I never fought a battle with them. So the only faction I wage war against are Seleucids and various "independent rebels". And also I have really neat faction hier at this time who is young (26 yo) and already has seven command stars.

Sounds like a great campaign you had! It's always fun to get your ass kicked as long as you have a fighting chance, unlike my recent Hai campaigns where the 'grey bastards' just rolled over me with their entire army and i had only 4 units of spearmen to fight back.
