While I am still amazed that every man of my 100 in the unit has his own rating, it goes with my experience (I always keep 4 knights after a pitched battle in the same unit for example; the same 4 veterans).

What I would now like to know:
Is there a pattern (by experience) to which the men are arranged within the unit ? (all the best men in front, or in the back)

If the best are in the front, you gain unit valour very slow (since going from valour 3 to 4 takes longer than from 0 to 1) in tight formations.

If it is the other way round, you loose your front noobs very fast at first, but after this your unit is overall tougher (only veterans left).

    Which one is it ?

    Thanks for the answer.

    Wow...

I doubt there is any pattern in veterancy in a unit.
