    Default Some advice , please.

I ve just finished a campaign in VI as the Mercians. For once I actually used intelligence rather than just fluke, wild intuition and plain foolhardiness.

However, there is one unit I haven t got the hang of, so I tend not to recruit it:
the Militia Sergeants. Whenever I get them on the battlefield I just don t know how to use them properly.

I d like some views from you more experienced players on how you use them to best effect?

Militia sergeants are actually quite good when you use them the right way. Look as them as semi-trained peasants with armour piercing ability. Use them as flankers (as mercians not many other infantry qualifies for this role). They will do a more than decent job against pinned cavalry or other armoured unit. Don't use them in one-on-ones unles you have to. They also shine in the woods against cav.

Woodsmen (if you can get them as Mercia) are probably better in their role as pure flankers due to their excellent charge but woodsmen don't have such a staying power as miitia sergeants.

Thanks, Peasant Phil! It s good to get tips on some of the parts of the game Im still unclear about.

I ve moved onto the Welsh now. I tried the Mercians 3x before I realised the main way to victory was to smash the Saxons and prevent them producing Huscarles. Once Id done that, minor victory was just a matter of time.

I saw how the Welsh were easily squashed , so I thought I d try them next.
