Default The EMAs - It's like watching a train wreck !

So I stumbled onto this while flipping the channels, and it's hilarious.

for those who don't know, EMA stands for European Music Awards (and didn't know this until a little while ago either) an award show by MTV, in Europe, featuring an American host, American announcers American performers and American winners (who more often than not don't even bother to show up). The Americans that do show up are obviously wondering what they are doing in munich and why they couldn't just host this thing in the US.

And if that isn't ridiculous enough, goth is apparently back in style

I gave up caring about MTV a long time ago. The M no longer stands for music, more for Moronic.

    Moronic Television.

    See what i did thar?

They deigned to let us Dutchies have our own moron show, called the TMF Awards. If at all possible, TMF (meaning: The Music Factory) is an even more dumbed down channel than MTV is around here. Probably one of the reasons I hardly ever watch TV anymore.

How can you guys find this not compelling?

    Ja Mata, Tosa.

The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder

We have that too. In the early years it used to be a running joke off our more respected bands to perform there but to really point out that there's just a tape playing. Including a singer/guitarist who put down his guitar (music kept playing of course) and starting clapping his hands in a way you'd expect from a 'schlager' singer. There was also a band where all the group members had switched places.

It's been a while since I watched it, I think it's just become a slightly more professional, more boring show with cheaper 'artists' than the MTV awards.

They actually showed the part of her performance where she was a bit coherent and following the song.

Pete Doherty seemed surprisingly clean though.
