    Default Epic campains?

Hello, its been a hard time to chose what faction that offers not the hardest or the easyest playtrough but that gives you the real epic feeling during the many hours you goin got spend in battle and on the campain map. Sure EB can be how you chose to play it but i woud like a challange that comes natuarly and epic so to speak. If you feel that 10 stacks vs 1 one is just that then tell me about it and what faction did you play/time period and the situation.

I dont have mutch time to play EB and i just dont whant another senario like the last one where i played macedon and grew to be the richest nation of all in 20 years and no treath in sight but rebels to slaughter now and then. Whit the wealth i possest i coud easy wipe out rome by reqruiteing its mercenarys (in fact i did)

So what holds in the long run and what goes epic?

The most battles I always have in Sweboz campaigns, both in EB 0.8 and now EB 1. In my current campaign the counter is now at 120+ battles in 214 BC, inculding two crushing defeats and two heroic victories, and dozends of 'ordinary' full stack battles.

The campaign always starts smooth when you don't have other enemies than the free towns arround. But as soon as you expand West (Belgica) you'll come across one (or even both!) of the Gaul factions, and then the action starts. In the same time the Romans are establishing their Alpine Empire and that will be your next opponent.

Speaking of Macedon and obscene wealth, I'm currently in the winter of 247 BC and am blowing the top off the treasury competition: 667,018 mnai, with a seasonal income of over 48,000 (before expenses; after wages, upkeep, and 13,000+ in construction, I'm still pulling in over 12,000 mnai in one turn). Once you get your hands on those mines, nobody can stop you.

One thing you might consider doing (and I've thought about this myself) is a bit in the sense of "role-playing". You get a new faction leader, one who is "destined for greatness" or whatever you feel like. He thinks he's the next Alexander. So you recruit a huge army, and then just romp through as much territory as you can before he dies/grows too old/whatever. No retraining units is allowed. Armies may only be replenished by mercenaries. Assault every settlement (it saves time), and don't stay in the same place ever.

Then again, when you have almost 700,000 mnai, I suppose that's not really much of a challenge, either.

    Cheers.

Well my current Hayasdan campaign has been a blast! :)

You start out on the edge of madness.
Besides you have this army which isn't exactly the best around that corner of the map, until you get cataphracts and the like.
But they won't come anytime soon after campaign start, but it's something to look forward to as the game proceeds.

The campaign itself really gives you a feeling of carving out a real empire, with all the work it takes to get the campaign to run smoothly.

I would recommend you to try it. :)

However my campaign seems to have stopped at 191 BC, repeatable CTD.
But was starting to dominate so I can call it a successful campaign, although I wished to continue for at least a while longer. :(

I tried Hayasdan the other day, and survived comfortably for about 20 years, then promptly blew up. I started by immediately striking out into Seleukid territory. I _knew_ they would turn on me, and be a swarm of endless stacks, if I let them strike first. I cut a swath right into Seleukia and Babylon with almost no resistance. For the next 20 years, occasionally a miserable unit of skirmishers or something might try to retake that land, but, well, haha. ;) Then, without warning, Ptolemies and Seleukids made peace, then allied, and within three turns of this happening, I'd lost 6 towns. Endless gold and grey stacks sweeping the board, everywhere. It was over.
