Historical Battle - Gergovia

Could anyone who has beaten this give me some tips?
I won last night but it was not a good win. My army got annihilated while a single unit reached the towncentre and held it for three minutes. Then the rest of the Gauls came back and killed them all.

I've been unable to crack Gergovia as well. :(

I won it by dfistracting the Gauls, withdrawing the general to a safe place and shoving 2 units into the plaza.

i haunched all my legions together into a giant sea of romans,almost like a testudo,i put my cavalry including ceaser to fight,once they die,try to get ceaser and his five or less body gaurds in the center of your block of men,the gauls and vercingetorix will go crazed tring to kill ceaser and are slaugtered by roman infanry,and place your archers on top of that hill

Well .. first time i played it i got beaten by the gauls as well ..
but second time i used pause and i won with easy ..
i formedmy legionary into 2 rows faceing against the gauls ...
in the same time i sented the ram against gaulish gate altough it was not neccesary cause after routing couple of units i sented caesar after them and took the gate ..
it was easy after that .. pulled my men into the town fast .. lost couple of unit in progress but that was no big deal cause in the city center i had my men ready to fight ...
the timelimit was beaten before they managed to get most of there troops inside the town to figt against me .. and those troops were exhausted and very tired so like i sayd .. it was easy ...
use pause a lot and you win ...

With alot of th historical battles it is near impossible to win with your troups set out in the battle start locations. this is probably the reasons the generals lost the respective battle as they failed to fight on the right ground.

with gorgovia i find it easiest to abondon the ram and set all my boys on fire at will mode, once the battle begings get there back to the wooden walls of the settlement, get you cavalry into a position where they can flank the enemy as the attack your infantry and then let the fun commence.

it is wise to put your general right behind your infantry force and keep blowing your horn as this seems to keep there morale up. also pop the archers behind and have the shoot fire arrows, this helps lowerr there morale and when they break send you general into to mop up the remaining gaul scum :D

the only battle i can never win is again the parthians in the desert, anyone had any luck on that?

may u guys explain to me wat this one is again its been like 5 months since i played the games, the computers is all jacked up and people tryin to hack it all the time

Split the legions in two lines. one face the west side while one face the east.
use your 2 cavalry to take out the forester band and then continesly charge into the rare of the Gallic lines. keep you general in the middle to inspire your troops. Archer auxilia shoot into mobs of gauls. This worked on hard.
