Well hello Mr. New Assistant Moderator.![]()
I own several thousand shares of a (now defunct) mining company that my father bought for me when I was about seven. I'm holding on to them just in case time flows backwards and I can make a buck. Or maybe one day they'll kick back in a strike gold. Who knows?
Other than that, I buy lottery tickets like all the other shmoos.
*Oh yeah, about ten (fifteen?) years ago I got ripped off for $5K US buying some Ben & Jerry's stocks. I threw in my cash with two other guys to buy a block of 1500 shares and one of the guys and my 5k went "Poof!"

I am invested in several diversified risk mutual funds directly, as well as through both traditional and Roth IRA accounts in both my name and my wife's. I avoid individual stocks, as they are too prone to fluctuation which is unhealthy for long-term investment. Also, I am far too lazy and unknowledgable to do my own trading, so mutual funds are the quick and easy way to do things.

I'm curious, other then acknowledgement of who has them is there some other inquiry forthcoming regarding the subject?
Not trying to be a smart rear end, as I'd love to participate in a more indepth discussion on investments.

I'm in the same boat as you TinCow, I finally decided earlier this year to take some of my money out of CDs and put them in something a bit riskier so I went with mutal funds. I don't know too much about the whole deal but I know my mutual fund is focusing on buy overseas stocks which with the US $'s decline of the past few months seem to be doing alright. I actually should check in with the manager of it in a week or so. If it goes well I'll probably put some more of my money in another mutual fund next year.Originally Posted by TinCow

Four stage strategy from Yes, Minister:
Stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.
Yes, I own both.Originally Posted by {BHC}KingWarman888

Some stocks, some mutual funds (no stock funds though - the funds are investing in bonds)
