Question Devastating an enemy tile... How does it work?

    .
Whatever I do, I must be doing wrong because I can't get rid of the rationing line of vices, although the definition states that it will go away if you devastate an enemy tile. How is it done? I'm having my general go (alone or with the army) to tiles showing up high fertility, medium fertility etc. but it seems to no avail.

You must left the general remain still for at least 1 turn. He doesn't have to be alone. Also, I believe it only works with enemy factions, but I'm not sure.

There seems to be an element of random in it at well. In some sieges I have black tiles from the first turn, in other they do not appear before the third or fourth turn and in some there seems to be no devastation at all.

The size of the army doesn't seem to play a role because I usually attack with a full stack and get different levels of devastation, even with the same army in different provinces.

I have never been able to get it to work for me. And I never cause devistaion when seigeing, although the AI causes plenty of devistaion when it besiegies me...

I don't think devestating will ever stop the traits from appearing, but I think it can help to delay them getting worse. However devastation combined with some of the steppe/barbarian traits ("forager" etc)? Possibly...

The resupply through devistation only works for the steppe factions and maybe Sweboz, iirc.

Thanks. Is it meant to be that way or sort of an incomplete feature?

Btw, I check the AI generals with spies and they never seem to get the rationing line of vices. Is it possible to enable it for them too? (How?)

    Thanks others as well.

It's meant to be that way. These factions get bonuses because of their raiding skills.

I don't know if the AI has the rationing traits off or not, but it would make since, since the AI doesn't understand the system and does stupid things.

Amin. The maluses on or off, it's typical for the AI to send a full stack without a general and generals without armies.
