    Default Gahzette, November 2007

The team at the Gahzette is proud to announce the release of their eighth issue.

The November publication covers a variety of subjects, from the intrigues of the English Royal Court, to the state of PBMs and AARs in the forums, to Climate Change (in modding, natch).

Oh, and we cover this little thing called EB, too.

Thumbs up Re: Gahzette, November 2007

Great issue! Thanks for linking to my Scottish write-up, though it might be a bit confusing that the link only goes to the single post covering the first 5 turns.

Are we allowed to play Devil's Advocate in the debate bit? As much fun as it would be to weigh in with a real opinion, it'd be even more fun to take on a Creationist defense or similar.

    Thanks!

If you don't mind... How about ordering the issues from newest to oldest on the web page?

The only reason I haven't done it before is that the site's only one and a half screens on my monitor; I keep forgetting the huge percentage of people using smaller sizes (judging from Google Analytics, at any rate )

I've followed Sigurd's quest for debate earnestly. Im curious if this will lead to a new subforum or be conducted within the confines of the backroom? It appears to be addressed to the Backroom crowd, but it seems to be a requirement to envoke formal debate rules (very unbackroom).

So, a potential subforum might garnish a higher level of participation IMHO, thoughts?

We'll see what the takeup is.

The initial plan, subject to modification by Sigurd, is to do things behind the scenes, then to include the debate in the Gahzette.

If there's enough interest, a sub-forum may be implemented

The debaters send in PMs to Sigurd who then posts them in a special thread in the backroom. Then there are counter arguments and counter counter arguments etc... It looks like it is going to be me vs. Crazed Rabbit on gun control(we both are technically against it but I am arguing for it just because I have a huge contrarian streak) and Andres Vs Louis about some Belgian nonsense.

I know, and that's entirely my fault. But instead, there's the EB article for you! Thanks Xehh II for your comment.
Speaking of the EB bit, any other comments about it?

    .
About EB... More emphasis on it aiming to be die-hard historically accurate would be welcome. There's research able to fill volumes (including partial language reconstructions etc.) behind that tiny little mod.

Waldinger if you need inspiration there's a lot of people who will give you idea's for your debate

You can also look for ways to 'beat' CR by looking at his arguments in previous discussions of the topic (there are plenty )

Well, it really depends on which articles you're talking about, as it varies between reporters.

From my pserspective, each issue would take a couple o fhours to compile, depending on the multimedia content.
