Ugliest unit

So.... There has been many talk about how badass the units are.... don't get me wrong, i love 100% of them.... well... maybe 99%

The Getic General really kinda pulled me from starting a campaign with them... they seem kinda wierd to me... I also dont like the seleucid pandopotoi, they seem to one-colory

does anyone alse have an "ugly" unit?

The ones I like least have to be the Iberi Milites. They just don't grab me, to be honest. But then, warfare was never meant to be pretty...

Until people started dressing up their elephants with fancy decorations. But you get my point...

I'm STILL playing the internal version, but at least in that the Indo-Iranian Light Cavalry is very very ugly, and I don't mean the clothing. Reminds me of Tuco from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

There are no ugly units. Each of them has an own unique look and discovering a new one, an unknown, i experience their beautiness with all my senses.

I can't say which i don't like though, due to professional courtesy. Well, from my own units i don't like the Asiatikoi Hippeis, the Komatai Pelekuphoroi and i guess i could've also put a bit more effort into Phylakes Daoii.

I don't like some of the changed Sweboz units, the Dugunithz (former Frameharjoz) and the bodyguard, because the colours they are wearing do look more Celtic than Germanic to me. The former Sweboz army had a 'poorer' look, what I think fits those people more.

I love it the eye on the shield--I guess that just goes to show that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I'd have to say that...dang...I can think of any ugly units. And I'm not sucking up.

I suppose that the Spartan helmets could be called repulsive (though the rest of the unit is gorgeous). Mainly because they were taken from those ridiculous vanilla Spartan Hoplites. I sometimes wish they had a new helmet, perhaps with a long, red plume.

Your choice, your view. Now if you said that "ALL UNITS SUK" we wouldn't like that, I guess, but singling out one or 10 units should be considered fair game.

It is a bit different for members as all of them did have the chance to ask those questions when the unit was done, or could say something inside EBH.

Ha when I read this I asked if you wrote it into a good thread. These units are fantastic.
But some Lusotanan or Getai units are less nice (the word ugly is not correct here)

Ok, let's see:

KH Classical Hoplite: Only because of the dark leather armour... It looks a little weird.

Various Thorakitai: I love the Thorakitai who have chainmail(KH, Ptoly, etc.), but personally I don't particularly find the platemail of the Baktrian Thorakitai appealing. Still beautiful, though.

Eastern Kinsmen Heavy Cavalry: I suppose they aren't quite colourful enough. Compared to the bright armour of other bodyguards, these ones aren't that comparable.

Armenian & Pontic Generals: Their armour is beautiful and all, but their faces look too cartoonish...

Other than that, everything is BEAUTIFUL. Just awesome, particularly the Hetairoi Kataphraktoi. And everything else.

Besides all people that go to battle in their everyday clothes, like Psiloi, I really don't like Karas Viras. Everytime I look at their heads I come to think these guys drink their water from the latrine while the others are p***ing on their hair.

Probably pantodapoi. Of course that isn't a ding on the model makers or designers, contextually it makes sense-- why would any levy/draftee unit have any reason to be aesthetically pleasing in any way?

Wasn't sucking at anything, it was my style of sarcasm.

But honestly, i don't consider any unitmodel 'ugly'. 'not that good looking' or 'not that rich ornamented' are the terms i prefer and if you want to know what i'd call ugly, make a google-image-search with the words 'ugliest dog'.

I'm not a huge fan of the new Getai komatai skirmishers compared to the old skin. They no longer have shield designs and their heads are larger than the rest of the Getai troops.

Now there is also a lighter version of the sauna heros around for the Celts around (even though I don't know how you can have a lighter soldier of one that is fighting naked). No drugs, no vibridium helmet, no steel shoes (or whatever gave them 5 armour), just plain skin from head to toe waiting for your archers to do their target practice.

I think the new naked spearman unit, it looks like they're wearing invisible g-strings.

The Garamantine infantry. I just don't like the cowspot patterns on their cloaks, and the orange shields and giant feathers in their headbands make them look kind of garish.
