Default Q about Carthage reforms and some other units

i knew all the faction reform's requestion via FAQ thread, but i wanna know more about their affection?

for example,i wanna know what would happen after my reform?what kind of units will be available? i looked into Recruiting Viewer but only found Romani and celts's new unit with the reform tag.

i'm playing carthage now and built a 12-turn barrack in my capital which i expect to train African Elites assaulter there(i cant remember its exactly name, but i'm sure both the building info. and the RV showed that this level of barrack can produce such unit),but after 12 turns waiting i found i still cannot train them.

so i guess do they only appear after carthage's reform?

and, what exactly these reforms bring to us? as we all know that after Polibian reform the whole italy cities could bulild factional MICs for Romani, and after M & A reforms the Romani can train units in all II gov.,

but what do the other factions' reform do?

I'm new here so maybe some guy already packed up such info. i need, so could you pls tell me where i can found them?

    thanks in advance!

All the mailed and elite units like
-Libyan Heavy Spearmen - Aanatim Leebim
    -Liby-Phoenician Heavy Infantry - Dorki Leebi-Feenikim Meshoorianim
-Elite African Infantry - Dorkim Afrikanim Aloophim
-Elite African Pikeman - Aanatim Afrikanim Aloophim
-Iberian Assault Infantry - Dorkei Hatkafa
    -Sacred Band Phalanx
    -Sacred Band Cavalry

you can recruit Loricati Scutari (Iberian Heavy Infantry) in with high level regional MICs in most Iberian provinces prior to the reforms to give you a hardcore assualt infantry

thank you for your answer and your list remindes me the unit i want is Elite African Infantry - Dorkim Afrikanim Aloophim, and Iberian Assault Infantry - Dorkei Hatkafa, which are both AP in melee combat.

    and i'm sure in the Recruiting Viewer there's no special sign of reform for them. and they should be available in my capital according to both the RV and the city building intro. while i have built the factional MIC level 4(12 turn);

and i still wanna where could i find out all the reforms' exactly affection? thanks!

I'd have thought you could build the Sacred Band units before reform?
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

anyway, anyone here could tell me each reform's real affection?

i used to decide which faction to play by following its unit features. and i'm also afraid that i can't make right decision during game if i dont know what will happen after the reform.

so the reform's affection really means a lot to me.

    thanks in advance.

    ps:i'm not native english speaker.

Slightly confused here; affection means a mild form of love, basicly.

I am going to assume that you are trying to say effect, which means consequence.

Therefore, the effect of getting the reforms is to let you recruit all Carthigian elites that wear roman style chain mail.

As far as I know, there is no other effect, no capabilty to build different barracks, and no changed AORs. (areas of recruitment).

    Hope this helps you.

    thanks a lot!God bless you!

yes i mean effect, sorry for my confusing english as i'm not a native speaker

so how can i distinguish my soldiers from wearing roman style chain mail or not? from their appearance? and therefor the Elite African Infantry and Iberian Assault Infantry belong to that category? which means before reform i only get spearmen(melee uses spear which has penaty against sword) as my mainforce to fight with roman?

and what's the other faction's reforms' real effect?

As a Roman player embroiled in the 5th Punic War right now, I can tell you that Carthage's elite infantry units are not very fun to fight against.

so how can i distinguish my soldiers from wearing roman style chain mail or not? from their appearance?
Sorry I really dont get what you are trying to ask here. Yes, the units you get after the reform wear Roman-style chainmail, if that's what you meant.

i just wanna ask in the Recruit Viewer, how can i distinguish my soldiers ,which of them are available before reform and which are only appear after reform?

once again, really sorry for my poor english expression and thanks for your patience and answers!

As far as I can tell, the Recruitment Viewer doesn't give any indication which units are trainable before/after reform
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

i saw romani units with reform indications(C/P/M/I) on its unit-card in RV,and some guals' units also has such indications,

but it seems that other factions' unit-card dont have any reform indications.

after 2 days waiting,i guess nobody here exactly know all the reform's real effect(it seems strange that you guys can play the faction without knowing what will happen to your faction later).anyway, EB is such a great MOD that i will try to find out the all reform's effect one by one just by playing that faction...

OK, nearly six months since I have played eb (before the reforms existed, infact), but logicaly before the reforms you will be able to recruit:

    Poeni citizen millitia (levy hoplites)
Liby-Phonecian infantry (hoplites wearing traditonal gear, linothorax and greaves))
Poeni citizen cavalry (Medium cavalry wearing greaves and linothorax, armed with a xyston)
Sacred Band infantry (heavy hoplites wearing muscled cuirass)
Sacred band cavalry (Heavy cavalry wearing full heavy cav panalopy, horse has a linnen sheet covering chest)

    After the reforms:
Liby-Phonecian heavy infantry (heavy hoplites wearing roman style chain mail plus greaves)
Elite Afriacn infanrty (heavy shock infantry, equipped wth a pelta like shield and a ap sword. Wearing roman chaimail plus greaves)
Elite African pikemen (amoured as above, but uses the iliyrian buckler and a pike, obviously )
Iberian assualt infantry (like the samnite sowrds men, wearing greaves and a muscled cuirass, has an aspis and a ap falacta)

Sorry that I can't remember the Poeni names for the units.

Also, sory tha I don't know where the Carthiginian lonchonophoroi (sp?) fit in. I can't even remember what they are called.

Like I said, I have never played 1.0, and haven't played eb at all for 6 months.

Some regional awsomeness that you can't go without as the Karthidastim:

Geasatae: (I'm sure you know who these boys are , regional mic 5)
Balearic slingers: (Arguably the best slingers in the game, factional mic 3(IIRC) in the Balearaes islands)
Balearic light infantry: (waste of time in 0.8, maybe better in 1.0, if so pick em up from factional 4, again in the Baleares)
Iberian Catatanks: (Iberian Catatanks, 'nough said ,Factional mic 5 in southern Iberia, check recruitment viewer for details)
Neitos: (Heavy Galic swordsmen, Gaul, regional mic 4 or 5 IIRC 4)

There are lots more of course, but those are the some of the ones that can make or break your campaign.

Just experiment, save your game, then "cheat" by pressing ', then type in: "add_money, egypt, 40000" (minus the speachmarks)

Then build up your cities to see what is avalible where. Cheat to insta build is: "process_cq Kart-Hadast" (or whatever city you want. again take out the speachmarks)

Hope this helps you a bit.
