Thread: im a little confused on weapon changing...
Bravedude 09:27 11-17-2007
so if i go into descr_unit and change say the Portuguese Arqebusters (spelling) stat_pri from arqebuster_shot to musket_shot:

Will it:

A. Have the benefits of the change only and not the new weapon (on the battlefield)?

B. Change the weapon as well (on the battlefield)?

C. Not have any effect.

(I dont have any idea how mod skins or models or whatever any of that is called, i just like changing stats on my units, so if i need to change the skin of the gun into a musket gun im screwed.)

Thanks.

Its A. Its like changing an arrow to a composite_arrow. You are only changing the projectile it uses, which is defined in descr_projectile.

But even though it is using an Arqebuster rifle will it basically have all the same results as if it has a musket rifle?

Also, I figured I probably will want to learn how to modify skins if I really want to have fun with the total war mod since all these other people are creating such great and fun work. Is there a tutorial on what to get to modify skins and make new units and how to do both?

Depends.
It will have the accuracy of a musket bullet and the velocity and min and max angles, but it will not have the range of a musket unless you change that too in the unit file (from 120 to 160 I believe).

As for skinning, there's probably something in the tutorial section.
