Default EB Directories on C: needed, and need to be there?

    Hi:
We just installed EB, after having to download and use 7-zip to unpack it! (more on that later) During the unpack and install, EB seems to create directories on the C: drive, within the Application Data directory of the user logged in, i.e.:
    Local Disk (C:)
    - Documents and Settings
    -Dave
    -Application Data
    -Europa Barbarorum
    -Europa Barbarorum v1
    -install
    -CF58BFE
-EB (with the following subdirectories within it, some with subs of their own)
Data - documentation - mp custom game edu - presets - sp game edu backup

This accounts for 349 folders, 22853 files and 1.55 GB of disk! Assuming this is correct, my question is WHY? We have a multi-partitioned disk with one drive's identifier as I: (which is where RTW is installed, and also where we, of course, installed EB).

    1. Do these EB directories on C: need to remain, or were they just for the install? Can we delete them?
    2. If they are necessary, can we move them to a drive identifier with more disk space allocated? (I:, for example)

I also have no idea why they are default-created on C: to begin with. Maybe I'm just old-school (or ig'nunt), but I've always utilized the C: drive identifier to only house the bootfiles and the OS (XP-Home, in this case). It took HOURS trying to clear enough space from my 13.5 GB C: drive to be able to get EB to unpack, much less install, as C: kept running out of available disk space! Even when I used 7-zip, either it or the install recreated these directories and they still remain.

Am I hosed to lose this disk space forever, since my son LOVES EB, or is there hope for my tiny C: drive? All I know is that the system grinds to a s-l-o-w POS when EB isn't running, as there is so little space on my C: drive.

Thanks in advance for the info.

    Regards.

    Dave

I suppose you run Windows Vista. I also assume you are no admin...

It's not something EB is supposed to do; and it's not something you really would need, AFAIK. If you didn't install EB as an admin... be aware that this might just be what caused it. (I myself only ever log in as admin, and I do not have any such EB stuff located in the App Data folder.)

The EB installer will, not particularly brilliantly, extract all its files to your Documents&Settings structure, and then run the installer from there. The installer should remove all those files (but leave a couple of folders) once the actual installation is done. I would presume that you've tried to install but had to abort it before it finished.

You can safely delete all the files under there (Europa Barbarorum that is, not Documents&Settings).

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

Yeah but it won't do this when extracting with 7-Zip... Besides it will remove those files again- or at least it ought to. (And it is what 'my' installer did...)
