I love how EB makes me sad when I try to give the original RTW a second tryCan't play RTW without EB installed, they put so much work in this masterpiece so a
to everybody involved Who's idea was this mod originally anyways? I mean, who started it all?
Politics, just like the tropical forest, feeds itself from its own waste.
I love how much EB pwns the vanilla RTW, literally with 10x more content in units, historical accuracy, gameplay, scripting, cities/provinces, etc. RTW should really hire the EB team.
We love it because there spawn in our region full stacks of Seleukid armys...out of mercenearys we can't hire...
we love the historical unit and the depth of the game...but things like this are an inside out EDIT
are there any cheats to generate money??? that just aint funny anymore...we play the game intensily but to handle that without cheat requires hardstyle nerdiness and we need to stop working...we feel like someone EDIT on our faces

Translation of Rycalawre's offensive language, for which I think he should be banned:
There are too many mercenaries, which I am too poor to recruit. The tight economy makes me sad. I want to cheat, how?

I do NOT answer PM requests for help with EB. Ask in a new help thread in the tech help forum.

Because it offers much more of a challenge than vanilla RTW. That and the level of historical accuracy. Kudos to the EB team for the research they put into each and every faction.

Towards the end of the book, the Moties quote an old story from Herodotus:
"Once there was a thief who was to be executed. As he was taken away he made a bargain with the king: In one year he would teach the king's favorite horse to sing hymns."
"The other prisoners watched the thief singing to the horse and laughed. 'You will not succeed,' they told him. 'No one can.' To which the thief replied, 'I have a year, and who knows what will happen in that time. The king might die. The horse might die. I might die. And perhaps the horse will learn to sing.'"
Why we love EB?.A simple answer, because it is the greatest of the greatest mod ever produced, by so much a dedicated team of developers, who so much have historical accurate settings at their hearts. Its simply the Best.

Cheers.
Just start a RTW game, once you have played EB for while. I did so last week because I couldn't really rember that game anymore. What a difference! RTW is like a stoneage version of EB from the eraly 90s.
Factions? - 4 Romans, the rest was not so important in this time frame.
Units? - The Barbarians have three, the eastern factions two, the Egyptians several hundred out of the grave, the Romans some and the rest is represented by three phalanx units. And the good news: they get Legions as well. And there are of course dogs, chanting druids, gladiators and the like typical Ancient units.
Regional units? - WTF?
Balance? - Well, as a rule of thumb, family members are the equivavalent to the modern nuke.
Economy? - You must not care about.
I love EB because every faction is given depth, diversity, and believability. Unlike in RTW which (although in my opinion still a great game, when all's said and done) was basically a case of 'We're the mighty and invincible Romans, and the rest of the world is there to be conquered!'.
Essentially, EB comes closer than any game in creating a living, breathing version of the world of 272 onwards BC, IMO.
It makes history rich, full, and colourful!
...and the less said about RTW's 'Mummy Returns' egyptians, the better.

I love the roleplaying aspect of the character traits. there's nothing i like more than the huge amounts of traits and the ability to change the stats due to your own actions (like fighting and winning battles will remove the doubtful courage trait).

I love EB becouse it is the best mod ever.![]()
I love about EB that when I start a campaign with a faction I haven't played before I spend half the time reading the building and unit descriptions. :p
Well i love EB because its EB... enough said...
I love the way it looks espcially the the battles.
As a wargamer of 30 years experiance, I weep at the thousands of hours spent painting figures ( Competition winning quality!). Now it takes 30 seconds loading and I have a field full of beatiful legions etc. that just look the business.

I think that first its the traits, then its the economic/government system, followed by the units, followed by..., followed by...
Actually I was thinking of trapping them BENATH bridges, perhpas using iron cages, so that their snarling can be enjoyed by passers-by from a relatively safe distance.Originally Posted by Watchman

EDIT: One reason I love EB is because of Regional recruitment. As an example, I'm able to play a very fun Arverni campaign in Egypt, with my capital at Alexandreia. I got to admit, something I started just for a few laughs evolved into a serious campaign.

I love EB because it's beautiful and also because there are no trolls in it. Trolls are ugly.

I like slow expansion (I thought I won't like it when I heard about it). Thanks to long construction times I don't have to micromanage lots of my settlements each turn deciding what I want to build next.
Also battle AI. Honestly I can't say it's genius but it surprises me more often than Darth or Sinuhet.
And very neat units.
Because of all the wonderful and diverse unit selection![]()
Because of the forums. Closest I've ever been to an asylum.
... because there is actually a slight chance of losing
... because of the attention to historical details
... because better gameplay, introducing features such as "rationing" etc., turning the simplistic base gameplay into a more complex, challenging and realistic gameplay

Because it makes me smile, and it makes me scream
EB is dope if it came in a box i would buy it.
Plus if there is something u dont like u can fix it or make it they way you see fit, but who are we kidding, the amount of time and effort put into it are just too amazing.
I love and hate EB for the same reason; I want to spend every waking second playing it.
My girlfriend just hates it, with a passion. DESPISES IT!!! She calls it "that thing".

well....more diverse than vanilla, bigger map which feels great, harder battles and so many troops to grapple against.
*as for the trolls, we should do some lord of the rings shiz and shove em in a room full of elves and dwarves. sorted!
I know i've not been the best behaved forum user at times in the past... i'm permanently banned from the .com and that will never be lifted and i've been banned from the .org once before, but seriously Rycalawre needs to go man... Seems to me he might be a hardcore RTR fan who got bored of waiting for 7.0 and decided to play and insult EB to pass the time.
Anyway, i love the mod because... well, it's quite clearly the best Rome-era game (mod) that exists. Rome is my favourite period in history, from the beginning to the fall of the western empire, and EB is the best gaming experience of that time period currently in existance. If another Roman-era game were to be released that was somehow better than EB (highly unlikely) then i'd still play EB for a year or two more before buying the next one just out of respect for the guys that made it because it's just that damn good.
