You need the marian reforms for that, wait until someone builds an huge city in Italy...

Thanks for your response, but I play as KH, and i think that Marian Reform is for Rome...
The Province is Attica and in the Recruitment Viewer I saw that i can recruit phalangitai...
you still have to wait for the marian reforms. Only some reforms have individual triggers, other reforms, like the KH phalangitai are triggered by the old Vanilla Marian Reform.
My first balloon:
It's the vanilla event that it's triggered by huge cities in Italy.
It's independant from the faction you're playing and it's the trigger that is needed...

You can always send a spy to Italy to see what Rome's population is. Use add_population to give it the amount of citizens necessary to build an imperial palace.

You have both Iphiktous Hoplitai and Thorakitai Hoplitai in that pic, they're both Phalangitai(well, they aren't but they fight like them).

A ha ha! Rainbows and unicorns! Rainbows and unicorns!
In any case, its when Arretium (and only Arretium) becomes Huge that you get the Marians. No one else in Italy qualifies.

I don't think so LordCurlyton, it's any city in Italy that's not Rome.

Having played as Rome before I can quite honestly say that only Arretium triggers the reform. Capua was Huge before Arretium and did not trigger it. So was Taras and nil. In my old 0.8x Mak game I had EVERY city in Italy sans Arreitum up to Huge and still no vanilla reform. I'm almost positive Arretium is the trigger in EB.

Just a question here that I've never actually seen the answer to: If I'm Gaulish and I conquer the Romans before any of their cities become huge, will the Marian reforms ever happen, since Gauls can't ever build huge cities?
EB DEVOTEE SINCE 2004
Thanks a lot for your responce...
So I must wait the Marian Reforms...
After that i think that the question of pezhetairoi is reasonable...
What happened if I conquer the Romans before their cities become huge?
The Marian Reforms propably never happened...
