Does anyone else give the AI money?

Does anyone else give the AI money via tributes and massive cash injections via consoles (ie millions at a time)?

I sometimes give the AI like 5 million in cash (20,000 x 200) to make them more challenging but the AI often just buys crap mercs and large skirmisher armies :(

i personally change the script to give the romans a ridiculous amount of money. i i want to fight against the roman empire but im more of reliving history kind of guy, not a recreating history.
it's just my preferance.

yes I give each faction a huge amount of money. If I knew how I would max each capital's buildings also.

I often give tributes to smaller factions that are at war with my enemies, about 50k mnai per turn. The enemy of my enemy is my friend!

Sometimes it bites me in the arse because they become too powerful. But its a decent way of getting rid of that pesky extra money that affects Roman faction members traits.

Doesn't EB automatically give the AI tons of money to make up for their stupidity?

In my Romani campaign (yes I know, dreadfull isn't it), I've given a 100k to Pontos and Makedonia. At first Pontos didn't seem to do anything with it, but now they've gone rampage in Asia Minor, should be interestsing to fight them. And despite the 100k I gave the macedons, the KH destroyed them and then declared war on me, needless to say, that Hellas is now mine and the KH is exiled to Rhodos and the Black Sea.

Sometimes it backfires. There was a 10 year period where Baktria, Parthia, and the Saka were all at war with each other. I wanted the Parthians to win, so I gave them 200,000 every turn for 10 years. Still the Baktrians won. I think all that money hurt their decision making processes.

I gave some 5,000 in advance and another 5K in turnly tributes to the Aedui to make them do what they should have done themselves and luckily have been doing for decades: Fight the Arverni.

I force diplomacied a similar sum to SSbQ to start the Punic war a decade too late.

AI doesn't like large sums of money as "occasional tribute" as far I could see, but is more likely to accept regular tributes

i do it only if i need to create a buffer zone or play a broker in some regions when dominance of one faction (or emerging super powers) isnt in my interest. some times just to keep a faction alive for the sake of above mentioned balance.
i gave money to Galls to stop Sweboz form getting too close to my borders once. ended up in war with Gaulls

The AI will always accept gifts, if you actually give it as a gift. There's a special button for it. The normal one will make the AI consider what it would like to give in return for your money, and will see that it doesn't actually have anything it wants to trade off.

Not always. I just tried giving the Averani (neutral) 10k to fight the Aedeui as a "gift" and they flatly refused my gift. >.<

No, it doesn't. Offered different gifts to different factions and whenever the offering diplomat had not at least 4 dots of influence, the gift was refused.

To answer the thread's question - I sometimes give money to the AI (hoping the faction that gets the money will use it to fight another faction) but because of the AI stupidity I use it not so much...
And in most cases I haven't got enough money. Even in my current Romani campaign (where I own whole Europe from Gibraltar to Byzantion, including British Isles and Scandinavia) I'm not able to save some money. 60,000 mnai per turn - and I need it all to pay for new buildings.

Sometimes I'll do "give money" and "tribute" to increase the chances of acceptance. Although weird things have occurred like the AI only asking for a portion of my offerings while trying to give me a few hundred denari.

How do you guys even have that much money to give away. I have only one full stack of soldiers ( I know the upkeep is huge) and I can barely make ends meet.

I use the add_money 20000 command to get the funds for gifting to other factions.

Hit the tilde key to bring up the console, then type "add_money XXXX" where XXXX is the amount, but you can't give more than 20,000 at a time. Then, with a diplomat, gift the 20,000 to the faction.

But if you are using the Force Diplomacy mod, don't think you can just force factions to give you settlements and then gift the settlement to someone else. It seriously messes with their economy and recruitment because the scripts don't account for such action.

But I think the real question of this thread should be whether it has an impact. My own experience against the Baktrians (gifting hundreds of thousands to the Parthians) is that the extra money doesn't work because they don't invest in their economy, while the Baktrian economy and population is phenomenal.

Since I play on H/M, I give the AI money as it appears the AI doesn't receive as much money as it does in VH/M, hence tends to go into horrible debt. I don't play on VH/M because the AI tends to be overly aggressive for my liking. After a few turns, I check the "Financial Ranking" in the info scroll to see which faction has money then I use the console command "`" then "add_money factiony, x" in order to attempt to balance the game manually based upon historical expansion of factions (Parthia tends to get overrun by AS really quickly in my games). Personally, I think it's no different than scripted "add_money" commands and it gives the player more flexibility in attempting to recreate a balanced, slow-paced game. As EB states, "you have brains, the computer has money," I'd go further and say that you have brains to control the computer's money and hence attempt to create a balanced and challenging game -though usually EB's efforts make game play really wonderful without doing this and I give major props to the EB team for the work they've done already

Stinko, EB gives as much money to the AI regardless of difficulty, the difficulty variance in the hardcoded RTW assistance is a drop in the ocean (or for a small faction, a bucket in the bathtub). Are you sure you've got the script running?

I give like $100 per turn for 5 turns to my Lusotani and Getai allies to keep in "friendly" terms as I battle the Sweboz.

I hope it works for a few more turns...

Hi, I try to give the AI money becuase we all kniw that without it, the AI is crap tbh. BUt can someone pleases tell me how to give money to Ai factions via the console, becuase whwnever I try it says the faction wasn't recognised; but I swear i typed it correectly e.g add_money Getai 10000

you can, I think it's only on the later patches of RTW. in the v1.0, you can only enter some codes certain times (and then you would have to close the game and reload it if you want to enter again) and the add_money code only works once and has a max of 20000; but in v1.5 (which E.B. requires) you can enter as many times as possible with a maximum of 40000

AI gets enough cheat money (as is shown by their numerous elite-only stacks of soldiers and ships in about 260 BC), if they want more they'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands

I just gave Carthage, Seleucid, Avernai, Casse, and Germany about 1-3 million each via the console. My only regret is that it really screwed up the factions financial chart ratings... :'(
