Does anyone know if you can take the BI.exe file directly off the CD without ever installing Barbarian invasions? Also does anyone know if you can do this without having to install the BI patches for the purposes of playing EB?

I don't think so, especially if your BI version is 1.4. You should probably just install BI and patch it. Since EB is entirely in the mod folder, you won't have to uninstall and reinstall EB.
