Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Seriously what was the point of wasting my time for such a pitiful excuse for a reward? I didn't know that "some units" was code for "whatever is the cheapest".I know it's not that big a deal but hey when the Mongols show up you can't have that many distractions. Anyone else get ripped off by the Council like this?

Yep. They tell me I'll be rewarded with some of the best units available and I get a few ships. Unfortunately I have rarely any need for ships... Usually I end up disbanding them due to high upkeep costs. Next time you give me any ships please pay their upkeep for 20 turns in advance!

If they promised "few units" = crap units

"best units" = maybe is the highest tech unit. But it is very useful during early stage of the game and useful during late stages if u have special high tech units

"Florins rewards" = Useful during early stages but is totally dumb after early stage.

So all the rewards are crap, maybe not "best unit", after early game stages. So I suggest giving unique units, which only can be only be acquired, after 50 turns.

3 peasants is not that bad, you can put them in the front line and charge to soak up arrows and disrupt formations.

    Pope's missions are worse.

I say Explorer's Guild ones are the worst overall. "We want you to take this town" (Yeah, start a war) and you will be rewarded with some florins.

    Objective completed!
You gain 100 florins in reward for blah blah blah

Yeah, thats really worth 100 florins, going to war with someone who wouldn't give in even if they only had their king, and a dirt mound left.

    Haha.
Well said !!! I will normally just execute him in the town square, impaling him with hundreds of arrows and bolts.

I agree that 'Best units' is a real pain in early game. Thank you for the 4 mailed knights. Oh and they are in my capital? Great, I will only have to forgo a dozen or so buildings just to pay their upkeep before they reach the fight.

Same here, with the best units, Thats pretty ******* annoying, when mailed knights will take up 50% of your income in early game, they should give us sort "Standard" units, like a group of spearmen, or byzantine spearmen, or some longbowmen or pikemen, something along those lines
    Now with transparent layers!

See this thread why the guild missions should be executed still:

I know that, but the only one that even remotely justifies doing the mission, would probably be Merchants Guilds (for the trade income increase). All the others, with exception to the Explorers Guild (easy enough anyways), you only really need 1 or 2 high level guilds for the global effect (and the second one just for convenience in location).

Bwahahahahaha! When I saw the image, I had to try really hard to stop myself from laughing out loud in my office!

That's brilliant (well, in a funny kind of way!).

Khaos83 is correct - if the Council promises "a few units" it could be literally *anything* at all.

"Some of your best units" is more promising. Except that they turn up in your capital...

    But!

I have cunningly exploited this arrangement.

On the turn that you complete your mission, just BEFORE you complete it, e.g. before taking the target settlement, simply change your capital to the city in which you'd like the units to appear. Voila! Instant reinforcements at your frontlines!

    Case Study

In my game as the Turks, my capital city in the beginning was Iconium. The Council of Nobles gave me the mission to take Adana (or some other city, I forget), promising me "some of my best units" upon success.

I had just taken Antioch when the treacherous Egyptians decided they wanted it too. So they besieged Antioch. I only had a few units remaining there (since the rest were besieging Adana). No way to get back and rescue Antioch in time...

So... I changed my capital to Antioch, went ahead with my siege of Adana, captured the town and *ta-daaaaa!* FOUR Sipahi units appeared in Antioch. This gave me enough offensive power that the garrison sallied out, routed the Egyptians and saved the city!

Immediately after *on the same turn* I changed my capital back to Iconium!

    Thunder of hooves
    Blood rains
    Eternally so.

No more money-eating ships for me! I'll move the capital to a little village with no port at all... Try to give me ships now, you stinking council of nobles!

Doesn´t work. You´ll receive the ships in the closest port anyway.

Wouldn´t it be cool if your king could be rewarded authority for certain objectives?
