Thread: Hayasdan-style reforms for other factions?

  1. #1

Default Hayasdan-style reforms for other factions?

I was wondering if there are any plans to implement similar reforms for other factions? I was thinking maybe the "uncivilised" factions could have a mechanism for turning a tribal confederation into a centralised kingdom, and the hellenic ones could maybe establish hellenic colonies in new areas, enabling them to further integrate them into their empire. For example: If the Ptolemaioi could give land grants in central Egypt to Galatians and have them fight as heavy infantry, what is to keep them from doing it in other regions? It may be counter-factual, but so is Hayasdan establishing a new Persian empire.

Maybe some new nifty scripts will be made for EB II. It'd be nice to have some new what-if scenarios, but I don't know whether they'll make it to EB 1.1.

If I get this right, I think the idea for the hai reforms was based of my clunky old idea for what I called a "cultural assimilation mod".

In the near future, I intened to take the idea back and transpose it across the other factions, to make a hopefuly slightly more suceseful cultural assimilation mod.

That is the one thing IMHO that EB really lacks ATM, the ability to portray change,

I like the ida, though I feel that the Hellenes are lacking reforms. The only ones they get are the cataphract reforms for the seleucids. I would like to see smething along the lines of a reform for KH to show the transition from the classical hoplites to the phalanxes. Also, maybe a reform for barbarians if they choose to invade civilised areas, adopting customs fo the people they conquered (similiar to the Saka reforms). Like the Gauls invading Italy or Greece and adopting thier ways of life and some greco-roman fighting styles and equipment.

I think that's a great idea and would really add something to the game.

I was hoping a developer could clarify whether additional reforms are planned. Anyone?

    At this time, no.
Reforms can be enabled much easier in M2TW, so you'll probably have to wait until EB2 to see anything along the scale of the Hayasdan reforms.

Not for EB1. We need to get a barebones EB2 working, and migrate most of the stuff in EB1, so there may be limited time in the near future for going crazy with new stuff.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.
