"Hip hop" means nothing to me. I can't relate to anything they sing about. I don't have millions of dollars. I don't drive a Bentley. I don't beat my hoes. I have respect for the rule of law and don't want to "f**k tha police". I don't like big buts. I can in fact, touch this.
I don't consider that real rap at all. The hip hop that I listen to never talks about money, cars, or hoes. They rap about everyday life things, each persons life story. Some of it is nice and soulful like "Common Sense" rapping about his sweetheart. One of my favorite songs is by Talib Kweli who raps about his children being superstars in his eyes.

This is real old school classic. Common rapping about how he misses real hip hop, how now its all about gangs and shit. Listen to the whole song, you'd think he is talking about some girl but at the end is the twist.

Seriously I get embarrassed saying I like Hip Hop because people right away think of that stuff on the radio that is horrible and unoriginal. It's crazy how pop and rock and even rnb now have better and more clever lyrics and word play that rap.

Although it is fun listening to "MOVE B!TCH GET OUT THE WAY" while charging cavalry into a flank

I prefered that to all the other hip hop I hear nowadays (although I do go out of my way to ensure I don't hear any). He did sound like he was rapping with a blocked nose.

I don't understand why R'n'B has started to be synonomous with Hip Hop now! When people say R'n'B to me, I think of the Small Faces, The Animals, The Who, The Rolling Stones or The Yardbirds! (Come on, I'm sure I can think of one American band that is R'n'B!?) That's what Rhythm and Blues is!

I forgot which rapper said this...but he has said "Why do artists call their music RnB when they aren't doing RnB?"

I recommend Susumu Yokota. Especially album "The boy and the tree". Very atmospheric timeless but still contemporary music with tasty eastern feeling. Ideal for playing eastern factions :)

Thanks, Brasidas. I will give it a go.

In the same way, I can recommend the music of Omar Faruk for playing with Kart-Hadast.
