Hi everyone, I finally got around to downloading XL, but how do I then play it?
I've installed it successfully, but when I start M:TW in the normal fashion, nothing has changed.
What have I done/ am doing wrong?

are you sure you installed it properly?
'Only the Dead Have Seen the End of War' Plato
'Ar nDuctas' O'Dougherty clan motto
'In Peace, sons bury thier fathers; In War, fathers bury thier sons' Thucydides
'Forth Eorlingas!' motto of the Riders of Rohan
'dammit, In for a Penny, In for a Pound!' the Duke of Wellington
Bearing in mind that i'm essentially CPU illiterate, I'd say yes.
Auto-install kicks in, install completes. Eventually I get a screen where all I can do is 'exit' so I do.
Essentially, how do I know its correct? With R:TW EB for example there is a desktop icon and assorted parphanelia. What am I looking for here?
All you need to get right when installing it is to make sure you've pointed it at the right copy of MTW on your hard-drive (did you actually make an extra copy, or just put the mod on your pre-existing install?)
If you start up MTW as usual then you might need to scroll down the "Campaign selection" screen when looking for the XL scenarios, as it leaves the original startpos files in place. If you don't have choices like "XL Early" in there then something has gone wrong, or you've launched your unmodded copy (assuming you have one).

The changes should be obvious immediately if you installed correctly. The menus are altered by the mod, so there should be a parchment behind all of the options which has 'Medieval XL' or something along those lines printed on it in a stylistic fashion. And, when you go to select your campaign, you might have to scroll down to find the XL eras. Hope that helped.
I believe in a society without rules, laws and regulations. A society where there are only ideas - strict ideas that must be followed to by the letter - and any failure to comply is punishable by death. This would be no dictatorship or police state, no one would be living in terror. It would merely be a 'reassessment of one's preferences,' people living in 'not-so-optimistic security.' So, welcome, those who are 'longing to be blindly obedient and loyal, unbeknownst to them.'
Make sure on the opening screen when you choose the period you scroll down. However I think EarlyXL is visable right at the startOriginally Posted by CrazyGuy

There are few things more annoying than some idiot who has never done anything trying to say definitively how something should be done.
