    Default position of FM

why is the FM positioned on the outside of the formation, leaving im vulnerable, thus, for the most part, eliminating the use of bodyguards? shouldnt the FM be in the middle? or is it hardcoded in RTW?

Hmm, my general is always in the middle. Which is ridiculous IMO if the bodyguard consists of cavalry--I want to use it to flank! But you should always create your own formation, the generic ones are rarely practical.

No, the genral is always on the left hand side of the unit. I think you meant in the overall formation, fanatic.

Yes it is hardcoded, but I haven't found it inhibiting my generals fighting abilities.

I think he was referring to the formation of the bodyguard unit.
I think he is out there to have a good view on the battlefield so that he can give orders.
