Actually, what is the big benefit of going into an Ivy League University? My dad had plans for me to go to Harvard, Princeton, Yale or Oxford/Cambridge, but I'm not that convinced any more. I was, but I myself start to change my view of things.

    Prestige?

Not much else, really, though they are good universities, still.

Personaly I am in St.Andrews, which, whilst its hardly oxford/cambridge level, is generaly considered better than most. Will it make a difference? I really don't know, tbh, but provided people continue to think it makes a diiference, then it will.

My experience is that, in senior, you do exactly as much homework as you want to do. It's certainly not essential to passing, or even doing well - I'd know, because I can't remember the last time I did homework that wasn't marked

Sorry for the essay, by the way; I'm putting off a Chemistry one Procrastination is a valuable skill, I swear
Well, as one at the same point as you sapi:

Homework to one in the morning = person doing a really good job. The continual OP1 (overall position) (Highest thing you can get in QLD) students work until 1 or sometimes all night. Mainly the science subjects though.

I havent done homework in....hmm 3 years? Yeah, thats right

My gpa was around 3/5, but marks have improved. (yet i still do no work)

Chemistry Essay? Exam block should have finished. Every high school should have finished today? What about the restricted time before exam block? I finished 8 days ago

Do I really need an education?
You NEED to finish High School, minimum, if you plan to live and work in North America, South America, or western Europe - or else your 20's will be much harder, and your options more limited, than they have to be (I know that seems a long ways off, but it's only about 2,000 days away!).

From the info you provided, it seems you don't have an education problem, you have a time-management problem. Sleeping from 1 to 7 a.m. is deleterious to your health and your ability to focus. And your schedule shows no "Roadkill" time. You have to schedule those things - they're vital, or all that other effort fails. Schedule 10 hours of sleep, and 2 hours of "play" for weekdays.

Those are not luxuries, they're necessities. You've got to recognize the need to re-charge your batteries. I daresay your parents and teachers aren't putting in the same number of hours working that you are.

And; whether you're better suited to a profession, a trade, or a schlub job - and the amount of schooling you need for each... In my opinion, at 15 you mentally prepare yourself for each - if you end up at 25 years old: a Lawyer, who is also a bricklayer, and isn't afraid to dig a ditch, you'll be adaptive to any environment you find yourself in. And that's a good place to be.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.

Better prospects of landing the job you want and on average a higher starting salary. It is debatable whether those universities supply you with a better education than lower tier ones, but that doesn't change the hard realities of life. An Ivy League or Oxbridge diploma will open doors that would otherwise be closed to you.

I give you a suggestion. Don't do any after school programs. Just because your School might offer 20+ clubs, sports, etc..., doesn't mean you need to sign up for alot of them.

That's why I had and still do have alot of time left over for free time.I don't even do any after-school things. If I did half the things my school offered, I would still be in boat you are in.

Only go to tutoring for the subjects you don't understand. If you go for subjects you understand, you only wasting time. For me, I understand, as of now, World History,Biology,English 10 and Game Design, but not Spanish 1 and Math, so I just go to tutoing for Spanish 1 and Math .

Do some simple stuff like that and you be fine

Wow Thanks for all the feedback everyone, this is great. Heres another thing i mean though. After you get your education and such, you only need the education for jobs you are looking for, but what if I want to have my own buisness do i really need an education then? What I'm trying to get at is that I dont want to waste 13 years of my life doing something that will serve no purpose towards me in the future
You WILL need education. There will be a lot of What about... in our lifes thats why I think I need education*. Just try to be smart, try to do homewrok with friends, you know you can talk with them and do it at the same time, you can get help, and you arent bored at all.

*I think I need education because of one thing: You can't be no one. There is always the need of being better than others.
Like someone said: We dont need to be the winners. Others need to be losers.
When you will apply for a job, you are appling for the same job as other people are. If you don't have education, how are you supposed to have the job?
But remember, life doesn't rely on your education. There are two tipes of education. Life education and School Education.
Just try to learn both. Dont unbalance one for the other, like Roman and Barbarian factions in Rome. If you learn one, like I'm doing, you will be useless in the other. I suck at life, but I'm very good to use pc's. Its useless to use pc's if you cant do a lot of things by yourself.

    My 0.02 cents.

Exactly the problem. Schooling teaches, FORCES, you to be dependant upon some other source.

You do not need schooling or a degree.

You do however need an education.

Life is Learning, Learning is Life.
Perfect quote. Reminds me of Mark Twains:
"I have never let my schooling interfere with my education."

The way I see it, for a growing society education is essential for stability, shifting groups of people into certain area to fit certain needs, much like an ant colony. During the Cold War for example, math and science programs were largely boosted. As a society grows and grows, people are simply statistics rather than "people", and therein lies the problem, education promotes stability while reaping the individual of any freedom.

"Education is a state-controlled manufactory of echoes."
    Norman Douglas

You need some kind of education. If you're having trouble (real trouble, nothing to do with advanced clases) with High school I would advise against going to uni/college. Learn a trade. Plumbers make more money than most engineers anyway.

Avoid becoming an unskilled labourer if at all possible.

If you want to own your own business someday, the type where you actually have employees (instead of being something like an independant plumber) you do an education. Math is your friend when it comes to money. The 'pointless' courses allow you to ineract socially with other 'learned' people. They won't respect you if they have to use small words for you to understand them.

Honestly, if you're having problems and doubts like it sounds you do, take a good long look at your life and ask yourself a couple of things: What do you want to do with your life ? What are your strong points and your weaknesses ? Do those fit in with your ambitions ? How important is money to you ? (and really, do the math here, what would you like to have and how much does it cost ?).

Sounds like your currect education is costing way too much time. (Considering I'm not working by far as much and I'm at a university)

Are there other educational options at this point?

In any case: yes! later on you would be so happy to have done some education. it will make the difference.

joining the armed forces.. well, it may be good for some. But I don't think it's something you should do from age 20 until you retire?

    again, yes!

    good luck!
