Thread: A Realism mod for MTW2?

Default A Realism mod for MTW2?

I know this is a forum concerning EB, and I know this question concerns more MTW2, but I'm gonna go ahead and ask anyway, since it is (kinda, loosely) linked to EB.

I consider EB to be a realism mod, in that it portrays more realistic units and fighting. Since I love the mod, I'm gonna buy MTW2 in preparation of for the far-off year of 20XX AD when EB2 will be released.

However, I've taken a look at some of the screenshots, and while the graphics are impressive and models gorgeous, I have a sneaking suspicion that the CA team have made MTW2 about as historically accurate as RTW Vanilla was (If I'm wrong on this by all means correct me).

Anywaysum, is there a mod for MTW2 that does what EB does with Rome? I.E create more realistic battles/units/factions. That way I can continue to enjoy historical medieval warfare while I wait for gorgeous ancient warfare!

    Thanks.

There are two that are worth looking at: (in my humble opinion)
"Stainless Steel" and "Deus Lo Vult". Both give more territories and the latter enhances the 'role play' elements a little (training to be a governor or general; only allowed to be crowned king in your original capital; increased costs of maintaining field armies to name a few read the downloadable instructions for a brief manual). Oh - both work best with the Kingdoms expansion too!

I myself prefer RTW enhanced by EB and look forward to EB2 big time!

The two large ones are MTR and medieval acutorsio (sp). Neither comming anywhere near a release date in the foresable future.

Whilst we're at it, does anyone know if RTR intends to port to the M2 platform?

We are working on getting TIC out first. AFAIK, work on RTR for M2 will start after RTR VII...

Basileia Total War looks like it will be as historical as possible compared to any other mod I've looked at, but it wont likely be released anythime soon either.

Why does it seem in the TW community there is a lack of people with the skills to model/skin/write scripts ect ? Every other community seems like its teeming with them but not us .

Well, the skining moddeling issue could be the small mater of £3000 for a 3dsmax lisence....

Yes, you are wrong. IMO MTW2 is by all means worse than vanilla RTW, and you can say farewell to historical accuracy.

Good luck to you with RTR VII, I'm waiting for this mod much more than for the next CA/Sega total vanilla release.

P.S.: I did not meant that MTW2 is a bad game. Of course MTW2 is a good game, almost as good and breathtaking and sharp as Warcraft 2 and about as that historically accurate.

Dominion of the Sword is going to be big and historically accurate, but it was started in September this year, so not going to be ready soon.
