Thread: Crash during AI turn.

    Default Crash during AI turn.

Hi, I've been playing with Romani up to approximately Year 239. Earlier in the game I began using one of my generals exclusively to campaign against the Karthadastim. I've managed to get him up to Conqueror of Carthago and have been waiting to get into a battle which would satisfy the requirement for Imperator. My chance came when an army of theirs attacked me during their turn with 1:1 odds. I ended up slaughtering them and earning a Heroic Victory. When the game reloaded back to AI turns, it went through several factions before the CTD.

    The savegame is located here.

I am playing version 1.0 of EB, with RTW Gold. Aside from the permanent 1.0 fixes, I've also installed City Mod, Cohort's First Legion mod (chocolate), and changed the sea animation back to the original RTW version. I've also enabled the toggle_perfect_spy in the EBBS.

I am unable to disable the background script as the problem occurs after I hit the End Turn button. I made sure to start the script up every time I loaded the game, with the exception of once when I fought an earlier battle against the Karthadastim, reloaded the game after a CTD, did not enable the background script, fought the battle, then enabled the background script.

I've tried restarting my computer and shutting down some background programs after the first time this particular CTD happened and have done so multiple times, but to the same result.

A brief step-by-step of what happens:

I am playing a Romani campaign at Very Difficult Campaign/Medium Difficulty Battle and a Unit size of Large. It is the year (or sometime after the year) 239.

My general, Cnaeus Africanus, is stationed on a road outside of Karthadast. He commands an army of 900+ well-experienced troops. After I End Turn, a Karthadastim army, led by Annibas and numbering at 1500+, attacks my army. The odds are 1:1, just what I need for the Imperator trait to be added to my general. I end up winning a Heroic Victory (every time I've tried to replay it).

The screen loads back to the campaign map and victory music is playing as the Karthadastim resume their turn. A smaller army of theirs attacks and destroys a rebel army in Byzacena. The faction emblems keep scrolling across the top of the screen. My general finally yells "Victory!" The various factions' turns are still being processed when everything goes black and the game shuts down.

Any help with this would be much appreciated! I really hope I don't get stuck here and have to start a new campaign, because it took FOREVER to get to the Polybian reforms with my computer's load times :(

Sorry, I can't run your game as you have some mods that are savegame incompatible with the original installation.

I am unable to disable the background script as the problem occurs after I hit the End Turn button.
There is no way to stop the script after starting it. This is the way to disable the script in the first place: you need to load your game and click end turn without starting the script.

If there are any rebelling cities around the map, they could cause the crash. Take a look around (with toggle_fow) and if you see any red faces cheat them happy, using add_population settlementname -4000 until they're happy again.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

I do NOT answer PM requests for help with EB. Ask in a new help thread in the tech help forum.
